owo desktop thread?
>>59370467
You think this shit deserves its own thread?
>>59370492
We didn't have a desktop thread and I felt nostalgic
This is 10 years old, btw.

wwwwhatthefuck
what is the best size for a 1920x1080 monitor?
>>59370459
>>>google.com
>>59370459
16:9 is only acceptable for a large TV.
Take the 16:10 pill. 1920x1200 is /comfy/
>>59370459
What ever your comfortable with, I use a 27in one.
Memes aside, should I learn C or C++ first?
>>59370381
C++
If you're looking for a neat book to start with, buy "Accelerated C++".
>>59370381
If you intend to learn both, do C first.
>>59370410
this guy is correct.
when learning C++, make sure to read stuff that is updated for at least C++11, and to use idioms made for C++11 and on. the language changed quite a bit.
What is a good light C++ program that let's me execute files as scripts (no compilation)?
Preferably not on the WIndows OS.
>>59369803
What kind of scripts? Shell scripts? Also your question is pretty broad. I mean arguably "Python" is a C++ program that executes scripts. Not exactly light, though.
It sounds like you're asking for some kind of embedded language like Lua.
>>59369901
I mean e.g. something like a Python IDE where you can just hit "run" and the thing will execute, without compilation to a .cpp executable.
>>59370039
Don't python IDE's do that? Also .cpp files are not executable...
Why haven't you uninstalled this POS yet? Are you litareally a cuck supporting the destruction of western society?
>implying I am not using Brave
Would you rather I had my password stolen by some third-party javascript I couldn't block because I couldn't install noscript?
>>59369791
still using noscript
just use umatrix you idiot
My Qnix QX2710 died two weeks ago.
Seriously contemplating getting the ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q.
Thoughts ?
I've read about basically needing to win a lottery to get one without dead pixels, BLB, or with no screen uniformity issues.
My Qnix had no uniformity issues, dead pixels, but it did suffer from things (hair/dirt) appearing in the screen 2 years after I got it.
>>59369695
Consider a Korean monitor, not kidding. Seriously.
But if you REALLY need that gamer aesthetic then get the ROG
>>59369783
That's what the Qnix is, the most popular one.
The Korean fad is over, they're all A- panels and they served their purpose and main brands have released what they have over 3 years because of those.
I want the ROG Swift due to; warranty, overall quality, stand, no dust/hair issues, guaranteed 144hz, G-Sync, lowest amount of input lag seen on an IPS display (even beats the QniX which was the previous lowest at 1-3ms depending on refreshrate). Slim panel is nice but not a deal breaker.
>>59369695
Out of the 3 gsync monitors out there with this panel, it's by far the shittiest one, AND it's the most expensive. ASUS forums and Amazon reviews are full of people with buyer's remorse about it (and that's without the dozens of threads ASUS mods deleted in full damage control mode).
Get the Acer or the AOC.
Reminder emulation is not GPU bound
Reminder you need a beastly single threaded CPU to emulate BOTW
Reminder Intel won again

I'm sure people are going to make the choice between Ryzen and an i7 based solely on which one emulates WiiU games better.
>>59369384
dunno, works fine on my old FX6300 chip
Why do people even care about this game?
It's the easiest, most creatively bankrupt zelda game ever and you can bet the whole thing in 1 HOUR with NO GLITCHING.
Tell us about the first computer you owned
>Compaq Presario, dunno about the specific model
>AMD Athlon 64, 1 gig of RAM, some shitty Nvidia gpu
>was the family computer for a few years until my parents bought some all-in-one Dell thing
>I inherited it and was free to do whatever on it
>couldn't really play games of the time so it was basically my internet machine
>installed Ubuntu on it for fun and tinkered with Rainmeter on Windows 7
>eventually got rid of it and got a laptop when I started uni
What was yours
>>59369345
That same Compaq case, but with a low end core2duo, 2gigs of ram. Came with a CRT with a tiny ass screen, and really horrible speakers. Over time it got 5 gigs of RAM and an HD 4350
Packard Bell 100 MHz Pentium, 16mb ram, 1gb HDD. Everything was proprietary. The motherboard sat horizontally at the bottom even though it was a tower case. It had one slot which was used for a riser card, and the riser card had the PCI and ISA slots on it. It was a nightmare to upgrade anything on it. Partly because I was a kid and partly because that motherboard was a piece of shit. Back then you had to deal with IRQ conflicts and Windows 95's shitty hardware detection.
>>59369345
some fucking 286 machine that couldn't run wolfenstein because it had an ega vid card and not vga.

Nah. It'll end up being taught by some history teacher who happened to get by cs101 with 60% and has no industry experience. The North American education system is a fucking joke
No. Maybe basic computer science can be a part of the curriculum in k-12 schools, but that's it.
stupid niggerposter
Why did Apple remove the headphone jack?
>>59369120
to be brave
>>59369120
Headphone jack cost money and if they can cut a couple bucks from the phone, they definitely would
>>59369120
To sell more shit, including that dongle.
why can't i find these for sale anywhere? why does no one want my money?
they must really be shit to be sold out everywhere and on backorder until may.
those things hurt my ears
>>>/mu/
Overpriced plastic headphones aren't technology
>>59369121
you're right. they're not innovative at all.
you're such a brave soul being on /g/ and bashing apple.
>>59369117
do traditional ear buds hurt your ears?
Looking for some fast RAM for my Ryzen COMPILAN build.
If motherboard lists compatibility with the same type of sticks but not the exact same model number is it still probably gonna work at higher frequencies?
stop making new threads for retarded questions that fit into an existing thread
>>59369031
just buy 16 GigaBytes.
DDR4 is super expensive right now because a factory burned down or something when phones started to use DDR4, causing the demand to go up. I'd buy like one 8gb stick for now and then buy another 8gb stick once the prices come back down.
What are some good alternatives to Skype that support text, audio, and video chat? I just read over Skype's privacy policy and want to get off M$'s wild ride. In general, I'd prefer open source, but it's not necessary. Also, general chat client discussion.
>>59368966
Discord. It doesnt have video chat yet but they are adding it.
just use skype, are you a pedo terrorist ?
