Why do people put so much effort into making their rigs look pretty? Like, who else is gonna see it?
Honest question, not trolling or judging, am just curious.
I just want it to look organized
>>59422644
Well, two things.
In terms of LEDs and coloring - yeah it's mostly just hotrodding. I work for a consistent color scheme but don't like give up a good motherboard for one with the right colors.
In terms of wire organization - it helps airflow to keep the components cool. It helps with looks but has a functional purpose. To a lesser extent cable combs help with this too.

autism my dude
Does anyone here do anything cool with old android phones? Was thinking about the possibility of turning them into mini servers or making tiny laptops out of them. I have a Sony Z2 lying around and itd be a shame for it to go to waste.

install gentoo haha

Is it rooted?
Why are 15" 4k laptops so fucking goat? The mix of screen real estate and portability is redonk
>>59422337
fucking awful
13.3" is the perfect size. The Lenovo X1 Carbon has a 14 inch screen in a 13" frame which is even better.

What music does /g/ listen to when programming (or scripting)?
>>59422151
nobody here programs
you should ask what /g/edditors listen to while they play video games
Most of the time I don't listen to music when I'm programming. Sometimes zardonic, mirror's edge soundtrack, programming music on youtube, psytrance like Infected Mushroom, Astral Projection or music from Tekken series.
I always put on a youtube video or livestream then forget about it while lost in thought. About two hours of silently programming later and I notice, repeating the cycle.
Will there ever be a company that can compete with Intel?
Yes, it's called AMD.
Qualcomm and Samsung.
Just bought a Dell XPS 13 9350 last week.
Initially I loved this device. Then I noticed a significant coil whine. Furthermore the CPU temp spikes constantly above 80C, even reaching above 90 at times.
I contacted Dell support about the coil whine and they have scheduled a technician to come to my house to replace the motherboard (which should fix the issue), but I don't think I can do it /g/....
Should I just return this fucker to Costco and shell out $600 more for a 13''mbp while I still have the chance?
>>59422080
>the CPU temp spikes constantly above 80C, even reaching above 90 at times.
thats normal tbqh .. is this your first laptop?!
This is common for the XPS. You should just get the Macbook instead.

Hello /g/entlemen. I've been toying with the idea of retrofitting a user removable battery in my Nexus 5. The back is just a piece of plastic that snaps on, so I could probably cut some of the clips off and notch the side to allow the backing to be easily removed later. Then I would use electrical tape to protect some of the open holes on the plastic shielding that I've highlighted in purple. After that I would need to find an LG phone or some other kind of phone with a removable battery, so that I could use the little ribbon cable that connects to the red part and then to removable battery pins (assuming LG uses the same main board battery connectors across multiple devices, or that a design including this type of flex cable even exists). Then I would need to get batteries that fit in the phone. The ones from a Samsung Galaxy J1 seem to fit well in the space in the phone, and the pins are on the right side, which will be important. The blue line is what connects the mother board to the daughter board, and with an odd sized battery I have to think about sticking cardboard under that as a support.
>inb4 buy a new phone
That's boring.
Thoughts?

Is VC safe enough to upload backups to the "cloud" aka google servers?
The only stuff that could be stolen in my kepass container and its encrypted too but well you can't be paranoid enough

1. Verashit is more vulnerable than truecrypt 7.1a
2. Cloud based services are aids unless you're running your own server
3. Password managers database should never leave your local device
