An older woman has tasked me with purchasing her a laptop, she doesn't know diddly about computers, she has an old laptop that has about 1 gig of ram on it and she just never can figure it out, I offered to practically give her my old laptop, for about 20 bucks, and she didn't seem to want it, but rather to buy a "new" one. I found a couple thinkpads for around 130 bucks for her, that would more than suit her needs, due to her older laptop being ancient at this point, but I figured since you guys are the smartest around I'd ask you for advice. note: i bought a thinkpad for around that price and have been incredibly satisfied with it, and wouldn't suggest it to her without my having done the same, so it isn't just meming her or anything.

Hi /g/uys,

I'm currently on my 3rd year of biology studies. I'm planing to go on a master degree about bioinformatics due to the fact that information is a real passion for me.
Any idea what type of knowledge is important for this kind of sector of activity ?
I am already learning python and I am planing on learning SQL. I heard that we were going to have a look to R. What are your advice ?

I am planning to get into android app development so I have started with learning java and practicing. But I am currently wondering which languages I should learn further.

Namely I have been thinking about development of apps with online functions and what language is necessary for that. Is SQL something I should focus on next because of the necessity of databases?

Long story short
-I have a moto x pure
-When google play music is opened, a small fraction of music files are not available, though when I use a file explorer, theyre in the folder and are able to play through poweramp
-The sd card is not corrupt
-Ive ejected and mounted it a few times, but google music still omits some songs/artists./albums that are on the external card.

Now, I have a 128 gig sandisk sd card, and Im sorta worried that anything higher capacity will give some similar issues. Are sdxc cards a gamble on reliability? Anyone else have similar issues?
Also, streaming sucks. If you work at a hospital, the wifi is terrible and unstable.

So why is Unity looked at as a completely different DE, when it is just a shell for GNOME?

How fast does your router boot up? Mine takes up about 8 minutes from turning it on to actually transmitting internet/wifi.

Was thinking if this was normal for a new router.

Serious question: why would anyone use a video/audio player other than VLC?

It just seems like the obvious choice.
