I recently joined a few facebook computer groups. Is it just me or are these people the dumbest on the web? I'm like a fucking teacher there. The Mac groups are 1st place in dumbism. The Linux groups: Too dumb to take the abuse from a linux forum. Windows: 1st graders. Anyone else feel the same way /g/ or is it just me?

So everyone knows that gif is pronounced "Jif" but few know how to actually pronounce GIMP.

GIMP stands for Gnu Image Manipulation Program.

A gnu, also know as a wildebeest is a type of african antelope, according to wikipedia the word is pronounced "gnu (/ˈnuː/ NOO[4][5][6] or /ˈnjuː/ NEW)[4][6]".

I have heard many refer to GIMP as "gimp" when in actuality it should be pronounced as "nimp".

Please spread the word so we can stop this ignorant behavior.

for something the average dipshit can buy at BestBuy, MacBooks were easily the best laptop (outside of pure specs for the money) one could buy. You have to at least appreciate that the unibody MacBooks are what pushed the "pc" market to make any decent consumer laptops in the first place.

I have one final thing to mention however, why the fuck aren't you using "tap to click"? The only time I actually click on my laptop is to drag.

The older I get, the less I care about keeping up with the latest technology because it's just a tool I use for work mostly.

My next phone might be from Apple/Google directly and my next computer might be from Apple/Microsoft directly too.

Yeah, a year ago I didn't have Internet for a while and I felt way better.
As much as I love tech, past a certain point it only adds complexity and worries in my life.
I'd rather have offline hobbies and spend only the strictly necessary time on computers.
I'm really starting to appreciate how normies live their life in their blissfully ignorant lack of liver-eroding preoccupations and time-wasting problems and trivial preferences that make absolutely no difference in the grand scheme of things.

Too bad I'm a complete loser with nothing in his life outside of computer-bound stuff, so I'll have to be stuck with a tech life for a while.

>>59440672

I started running as a hobby to get away from tech but then I got into running tech and different types of running shoes and winter gear etc

Hey /g/ I'm about to build a new gaming PC, as I don't know shit about hardware im intrested in your builds (pros, cons of different hardware)
The objective is a gaming pc good enough with hardware I don't have to change in some years, and one that could play with high settings on demanding games.

Well, I've got an overpowered build consisting of an i7-6600k, 32GB of DDR4 Ram, a 980ti, and like some liquid loop cooler rig. Works well.
>>
>>59442109
And I'm not like a pro or anything, but I bought it so I could easily upgrade anything at any time without bottlenecking or anything like that.
>>
>>59442122
And can easily run something like Ark: Survival Evolved on a very high/ultra mix.

hey /g/
i bought the components for a dual socket workbench a month ago or so and am just getting around to installing an OS and everything. I have two Xeon E5-2670's in the board pictured and linked, but when I use Task Manager or something similar to monitor CPU usage and temps, I only see 8 cores/16 threads. Plus windows (home premium) says only 16GB of my 64GB memory is usable. In my BIOS it sees that I have the two processors in there, so I was wondering why Windows wouldnt see both chips

USB 2 is inefficient because the CPU needs to poll the controller constantly.
USB 3 finally introduced interrupt-based notifications. PS/2 based peripherals have no more advantages over USB 3. /mkg/ hipsters hate this.
