You just idd
is this a female programmer thread?
Shouldn't "realistic" spaceships be just a cube?
(of course they wouldn't enter atmosphere)
Why?
Yeah there's no need for aerodynamics once you're out of any atmosphere, but why specifically a cube?
I read that the ideal space fighter would be a sphere, with the ability to rotate it's propulsion and weapon systems to face towards any angle (probably sort of like a gyroscope)
>>59455175
>>59455209
Now only if we could combine the ideal shape of a sphere but still be aerodynamic when entering an atmosphere...
Are there any good reasons to upgrade to Windows 10 (like performance) if I don't care about the botnet?
bash
Cortana?
Is this good?

What the fuck are you doing?
>>59455116
It seems to be okay. But remember that drives can die at any time, even with no SMART warnings. They can also return incorrect data silently. You should use redundancy and backups to protect your data and not worry about the brand of your drives or whether a SMART application marks them as healthy.
>>59455116
OP here, ignore the "power on" options.
Arch Anywhere is just so comfy. Why don't you use it, anon?

I don't go anywhere.

Alright /g/, do you got a comp sci or info tech degree? And why?
>>59455028
No, because I don't like math. I just do computer stuff as a hobby. If i was better at math and programming, I'd probably do it.
>>59455028
Yes and because it has made me find a job way easier, people may not like it but having a degree shoes you can do much more than just the area you choose to specialise in.
>>59455475
Shoes.. Fuck bring on the abuse then.
>His keyboard doesn't come with a Sun Type 3 key layout where [Control] is just left side of [A]
>He doesn't use a UNIX key layout
Please, leave /g/ intermediately if you use a plebeian key layout.
>>59454965
If control goes where most boards put caps lock, an idea which I approve of, what do you put in the bottom left corner where control is now on most PC keyboards?
>>59455044
A Function [Fn] key.
>>59455113
Fn is kinda pointless if you're using a tenkeyless or full-size board though.
does he really expect people to watch 2 minutes of ads after the main video has ended?
Do you really watch his garbage videos?

Do you really use non-free javascript to watch youtube?

KDE is the best desktop environment by far:
- Dolphin best file manager
- Actual workable high DPI scaling (lol xfce)
- Aesthetic as fuck
Prove me wrong (you can't)

It's the DE I use but why do we need more threads on useless flame wars?
>>59454794
Because these cucks need to be taught a lesson
Too bad that it's ugly. It was almost worth using.
Please help me pick a new OS that is out of the box secure and is pleasant to use....so far I've been considering the following....
ReactOS
Pros: Like windows before the cancer went metastatic
Cons: It's in alpha....
OS X
Pros:Nice design more secure out of the box than Linux. Unix-like
Cons: Expensive(hardware). According to Vault 7 release it's pretty compromised as well...
Linux
Pros:Lots of variations, many of which have a nice design, lots of compatible software compared to Unix
Cons: Not very secure out of the box. Tons of Vulnerabilities according to vault7
OpenBSD
Pros: Very secure defaults....is free...open source
Cons: Shitty default interface which can be upgraded to gnome. Lots of compatibility issues.
Solaris
Pros: It's not Linux, but still compatible with more than OpenBSD
Cons: Almost as many vulnerabilities as Linux. Not open source. Still not compatible with a lot.
Windows 8.1
Pros: No Cortana
Cons: It's still Windows
Let Me know what you guys think of the choices...feel free to add some I didn't mention!

>OOTB Secure
>Pleasant to use
From what I hear Void or a BSD is the way to go. I was going to suggest Arch because it gets updates very quickly, but the security of it's bleeding-edge patches are questionable. I hate Debian Stable, but maybe that could be in the running.
>>59454780
Wasn't aware of this Void distro...sounds interesting; def going to look into it.
>>59454744
Windows 7.
Got an unused heatsink with pre-applied thermal paste like pic related. The thing is 8 years old.. will the paste be fine to use as-is?
Also got a 5 year old tube of Arctic Silver 5. What about that?
put the arctic silver 5 on the cpu and use the pre-applied paste just to be safe
>>59454817
Won't that be too much >_>
>just to be safe
Safe from what exactly? Hardened/non-viscous pre-applied paste?
>>59454708
I wouldn't risk it, what are you going to use it for?
>I'm a cop who has seen child molesters walk free because of encryption. Would you still support encryption if encryption allowed someone who abused your son/daughter to evade justice?
What now, /g/?
>>59454547
>I'm a cop
Aaaand stopped right there.
>>59454547
Misuse is not an argument against it's proper use.
No child molester has ever been close to being sentenced and walked because of good encryption. If you're caught for kiddy-diddling, you've already either been caught in the act or someone found shit on your computer, at which point encryption won't help at all.
Friendly reminder that the 2017 /g/ thinks "Linus" is a youtube tech reviewer.
He is, idiot, he's the best tech reviewer because he created Linux and therefore knows a lot about computers
>>59454492
I yearn for the day when Youtube is out of business. And preferably all of Google along with it.
>>59454519
>He is, idiot, he's the best tech reviewer because he created Linux and therefore knows a lot about computers
This is the kind of knowledgeable post that keeps me coming to /g/ every day.
Why does /g/ hate desktop threads so much?
>>59454455
blame the mods
>>59454455
pajeets fought for their right to ban desktop threads and shill windows comfortably
>>59454455
Why do you show off your desktops? Do you think you're so special?
