Is it a good case to build a mini itx PC? I am looking for portability.Thinking of putting a 7700K (After delidding) and a GTX 1080 in there with modular SFX PSU. Also what would be the best low profile CPU cooler for the case? The maximum cooler height allowed is 56mm although coolers such as the Scythe Big Shuriken 2 which is 59mm have been installed in this case before. Am I being memed on by the popularity of the case?

It can be placed vertically too. Also no dust filer on the top vent when vertical.

Can anyone recommend a good bit of freeware to protect documents. I had a link to a website years ago that said it was the best at the time but I lost it. Also lets have a discussion on what makes them good.

Circumcise your hard drive. It'll protect your computer from viruses just like circumcision protects you from HIV.
>>
>>59457886
...ok. Aside from that, do you recommend anything?

To get rid of files Im using File Shredder v2.0 with the DoD 5220-22.M algorithm. I use to use the Guttman algorithm with 35 passes but it takes too long and I've heard after 7-10 passes it's redundant.

Hey /g/
Picked up a HP Mini with 2gb of ram for cheap.

What distro should I put on here for performance? I plan on browsing the web and maybe playing quake or something.

Arch + XFCE or if you're a tiling demon wizard, i3.
I HEAR KDE Neon is actually pretty lightweight, your mileage may vary.
Debain also just works.

Arch is heavyweight, despite the install process and headless base install. Debian is lighter weight. Gentoo would work, but be prepared for an install that takes forever; but after it's done it'll be fast as all hell. Void Linux is good too, make sure to use the musl variant.
Of all these, Debian is the most 'just werks.' Most broad support and use, so you'll have an easy time getting it set up and installed, and any problems will have lots of answers out there on the internet.

Am I alone or are a lot of you also becoming luddites quickly?

I used to have utopian dreams about super advanced technology, but given how scary and stupid it is to see people on their "smartphones" all the time today, and how we're letting algorithms control everything in our lives from who we should date to what we should buy, and that none of that will bring the technology I dreamed about to reality before all of us die, I've started appreciating more the value of the old times and ways.

Balance is key. Keep the technology that can genuinely improve life and mental/physical health. Avoid those things that you find harmful or unnecessary. Use a Faraday cage in areas you want to keep secure, if you must.
>>
i loved the transhumanist dystorpian or utopian future we all envisioned but with government agencies, jews, and other parasites hijacking it to undermine civilization, i hate it. the only transhumanist dystopian future i want now is one where people actively try to destroy these fucks or one where machines replace humans forever.
>>
>>59457467
The more time I waste away on this site, video games, and programming the more of a luddite I become. I've wasted away my entire youth on technology. I think Ted Kaczynzki was right and we need to destroy the machines.

Is there such a thing as NAS without a stupid fucking web interface I have to connect to if I want to watch videos or get my files?

Ideally, I'd like to just have a NAS drive appear as a normal external drive on my computer, but I don't know if this is even possible, since every NAS manufacturer loves to advertise their web interface, as if they're not all bloat and total shite.
