How far to Singularity?
>We were born before CDs were popular
No you weren't, you retarded faggot. Kill yourself.
>>59489997
Actually, I was. Cassette tapes were the musical distribution method of choice when I was a child, with CDs coming into fashion as I got close to my tween years.
>>59489988
I tried.

What is the "gentoo" or "archlinux" of window managers?
In other words, what wm should I use if I want to be a hipster in the linux world? Something that's functional to use but has quirks the linux community looks down upon.

archlinux is functional?

Why is it so hard to find a simple application for Linux that will wake me up at a certain time? Am I expected to write it out myself?while true; do
i=`date +%H%M%S`
if [[ $i = "063000" ]]; then
play bring_me_to_life.ogg
fi
done
So I can do that, but wouldn't it be wonderful if there was a GUI app I could use that would give me more options like snooze etc. and could start up when I log in?
I found two but they both suffer from fatal code errors I'd rather not have to learn C to fix.
>>59489819
> is it so hard to find a simple application for Linux that will wake me up at a certain time?
Because people typically don't use their computers as alarm clocks.
Use your phone or some shit.
>>59489819
That is surprisingly similar to how I started out too.
Then I put it in cron and created an acpi script so that pressing the power button killed play
>>59489819
write a script that calls mpd or something
I'm thinking about getting the Nvidia Shield K1 - good or bad idea? I don't really give a fuck about muh gaming, I just want a tablet where I can play 1080p movies and do some internet browsing since I'm going to be stuck on some flights over the next few months. Other options at that price point are the ASUS Zenpad and the Amazon HD8, but I don't really trust the Amazon tablet as it feels like a botnet (on top of the obvious Android botnet)
Thoughts?
You get a 1200p display, mini hdmi, lots of hardware power and the best part about it is it's 16:9, which makes it perfect for movies.
It's honestly the best tablet out there just because of what you get and for the price. I'd get the shield k1.
But if you are going to be reading mostly or browsing websites, a tablet in 4:3 scale is easier to use
>>59489863
Probably won't be reading much on it as I still prefer regular books to e-books (dunno why, just do). I'd only be using websites while away from home (otherwise I'd just use my laptop but I don't really want to have to bring that with me on trips) so I can probably deal with the screen size.
Thanks, think I'll be ordering the K1. Just wanted to make sure there wasn't some glaring problem I was somehow missing - from a price to hardware standpoint it does seem like a pretty decent deal.
>>59489953
Just be gentle with the screen. I treated my first one like my old nexus 7 (occasionally tossing it into my bed or couch) and ended up with a crack across the whole screen, but Amazon replaced it no questions asked. Otherwise it's a great tablet for the price.

There is talk of prosthetic limbs abound, but many seem quite simple in their design so can't do complex/fine motor movement. Designs from as far back as the American civil war still see widespread use.
More advanced models rely on muscle twitches from surviving living tissue, but what would need to be learned to enable humanity to create actual prosthetic limbs up to (and perhaps beyond) fine motor movement? And comprising of artificial muscles that can be linked to the mind?
well OP you're in luck i just finished a college course in "linking artificial muscles to the mind" so heres my opinio
It's not about limits of the technological knowledge, it's about limits of economical viability.
Cripples generally can't afford anything fancy.
Rich people generally don't want to have their limbs hacked off with pimped-out artificial replacement.
Do they make prosthetic cocks yet?

Intels processors are fine, delidding is just a way to destroy the processor.

What's your favourite portable monitor?
I have AOC e1659fwu and it's been serving me pretty well.
The USB3 only ones are garbage because of proprietary drivers and won't work at all with lots of software. The only good ones are GeChic unless there's another brand that uses standard display ports.
>>59490889
Chink hdmi portable ips monitors are selling for half the price of gechic on taobao. Mostly 15.6" and there's a 17.3" one.

>As a conclusion, it looks that in most cases, linking two programs or linking an existing software with your own work does not – at least in Europe – produce a derivative or extends the coverage of the linked software licence to your own work.
>Such interfacing or linking escapes to the copyleft provision of any licence, open source (like the GPL) or proprietary.
>In European law the fact of linking two programs and the technology used for it does not by itself produce a derivative work: viral licensing is just a ghost. It does not exist.
