This is a blue board which means that it's for everybody (Safe For Work content only). If you see any adult content, please report it.

I'm studying Games Interactive Media and Mobile. As I move further into the program it is beginning to become a pain in the ass using only my desktop and the lab computers for work.

I figured it might be time to invest in a good laptop. Dedicated GPU is probably a must for modeling and also running the games we make (we're making AR and VR games for some projects though I'm not at that point yet), and a higher end processor helps as always for building or really doing anything.

The laptop market is so massive and there are so many models I don't even know where to look. What are brands you guys recommend as far as the build quality goes? Something that will physically endure. On that note what are good bags/briefcases for carrying and protecting them? My current backpack doesn't have a dedicated spot to protect a laptop.

A laptop I was considering was the 2017 Dell Inspiron 7000 gaming. Across the web it seems the major complaint with it is the screen viewing angles.

Sorry for this long drawn out post, but please help me hone down a laptop out of all these damn choices, or point me in the direction of somewhere that can help me make my choice. I'm looking to spend somewhere in the ballpark of $1k give or take.

Thanks in advance.

Regarding software released under GPL that has a gratis model with some feature disabled, and a "full" version that costs money, what stops one from just forking the source code and releasing their own version with that feature enabled for free?

Literally nothing. You pay for convenience. Plenty of people have absolutely no idea how to do anything you just said; synergy is an example of this.

What we need is a coder who can write a brute force algorithm to find his email, following the restrictions outlined by Google here:
https://support.google.com/a/answer/33386?hl=en
The algorithm must be customizable so that it can start and end at two specified points in an ordered list of emails.
Now, we need as many 4chaners as possible to volunteer to run this program on their computers, with each person taking an assigned segment from the list of emails. (This assignment must also be determined somehow.) We run the program at the same time, reducing the time needed from years to perhaps days. Once someone finds his email by seeing the Behind the Meme profile pop up, he or she reports it here.
Then, we repeat the previous steps using a similar program to find his password. Once someone finds it, he or she again reports it here, and we decide whether to wreak havoc on his account or to destroy it swiftly.
I'm not very experienced with computers, so someone let me know if there is a huge problem with this plan that I am likely missing.

quick VB question. whats wrong with this code?: http://pastebin.com/SWHrHSph

why arent the fields displaying multiple values and why is "PickFive" always a smaller number than "PickFiveAdd?" I assume it has something to do with what instance the two are using?

My current concern is why do you have a single function for every increment of numbers to loop? Use one function and pass the loop amount as a parameter...

So I just got one of these last week.

It's about the coolest thing I've ever done. It's safe, it's stable, and it's fast as *fuck*. I can accelerate to 15 MPH uphill effortlessly by leaning forward. Plus, I can ride at night, because it has headlight and taillights, and it gets so much range that I can ride it to work/school and back.

If I wrapped my car around a tree tomorrow, I wouldn't buy another car.

Does mine come with a motor, you mean? Yeah, it does. 20 MPH top speed, 24 miles range.

I love these self-balancing unicycles. They're such a delightfully weird idea, but they work so well. One of the biggest benefits is that they handle uneven surfaces better because of the (relatively) giant wheel size.

I need a good editor or IDE for Rust development. I don't have any know how around emacs or vim so something else would be better. What does /g/ recommend?

I use neovim with vim.rust. It works fine (there is a bug with external crates not being recognized by the linter but the autocomplete works).

I also tried IntelliJ (it works fine), Gnome Builder (it works really well), Visual Studio Code (it works) and Atom (dogshit)

I recently downloaded GNOME builder and I can't find out how to actually start a new project it gives me 2 options:
Clone from git
Find on already on your computer
