What's /g/'s stance on these old timey platforms for online discussion?
>>59509599
>BBSs
JUST WHERE IN THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE.
>>59509630
The specificity of "old timey" should clue the reader in to the subject being the traditional dial-in BBS rather than the modern web forum model.
>>59509599
I'm feeling like we'll soon revert to that. And I'm serious.
Web technologies are now a fucking mess. There's security issues everywhere, you need a quadcore + 8GB RAM to run a web browser and view FUCKING INTERACTIVE DOCUMENTS, you need cloudflare for efficient DDoS protection...
There's a desire for simplicity and reliability, and old platforms are just that. In the end, we just want to communicate freely, and so far, "progress" led us to bloated platfoms that don't even do a tenth of what a BBS used to do.

PART ONE OF THREE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hey folks,
So I came up with a challenge that we can all contribute towards. Recently the act of minimizing Windows 10's RAM usage caught my attention and I've taken some steps to minimize the RAM usage on my system.
I challenge you all to contribute to this RAM-minimization process to see how low we can get it together. Currently, I benchmarked my RAM usage at about 970 MB with 300-400MB in cache.
Specs:
NVidia GTX960, Intel i5 3470 @ 3.2GHz, boosted to 3.5, 8GB DDR3 RAM.
THIS CHALLENGE IS FOR 64-BIT SYSTEMS
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>How is RAM usage measured for this challenge?
-Step 1: Reboot W10
-Step 2: Log in, immediatly start task manager, go to prestations tab, then to 'memory' (see the provided image)
-Step 3: Let your computer settle for 5 minutes (to let Windows finish off all it's routine checks, e.g. update checks etc.)
-Step 4: Write down the 'memory in use' and 'memory in cache' values.
-Step 5: post here.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>Rules for this challenge
-You may not comprimize Windows 10's security
-Having a virusscanner activated & running (NOT scanning) IS MANDATORY
-You may not disable as many features as possible from this virusscanner. It needs to actually adequately protect your pc
-You may not use some crappy uncreditable virusscanner
-You may not significantly reduce Windows 10's usability
-You may not significantly reduce Windows 10's performance
>>59507846
Install Linux, you fucking idiot.
PART TWO OF THREE
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>A list of things I did, and I recommend you to do the same for the sakes of this challenge
-Deactivate as many unneeded services as possible (In order to do this, I among others used http://www.blackviper.com/service-configurations/black-vipers-windows-10-service-configurations/)
-Deactivate Windows 10 Superfetch (really, it's not needed)
-Deactivate Windows (Compability) Telemetry (I did this with the use of DisableWinTracking: https://github.com/10se1ucgo/DisableWinTracking)
-Use CCleaner to do the following:
*Deïnstall Windows 10 apps among which WinStore, Weather, News etc. (those apps that were introduced with Win8) I (obviously) kept Photo's and the Calculator. . In CCleaner this can be done by going to tools - uninstall.
*Run the registry cleaner in CCleaner. Do this a bunch of times in a row: as CCleaner removes registry values, other values might become visible for CCleaner to be removed during future scans.
*Go to Tools - Startup, disable as many startup tasks here.
*Go to the context menu tab, disable unneeded context menu items
-Disable as many startup applications as possible (applications that are unneeded and not vital. If not done through CCleaner yet).
-Install the most lightweight scanner available, provided that it does not break any of the above rules (so no DankLightweightScanner.exe, I'm quite sure that that isn't very creditable)

Fuck off child.
This mother board keeps putting 1.55V through my 1700x for no reason. I have checked ryzen master and cpuz and they are giving out the same readings , I can temporally change the voltage in ryzen master but that is not a long term fix.
Does anyone else have this board?
>ASSUS

Matter can only produce emergent properties. Emergent properties don't exist; that is, they only exist as ideas. There is no such thing as mind-independent, objective emergent properties, in the same way there is no such thing as mind-independent, objective information. Only the mind gives these things meaning. The mind exists; this is self-evident. Thus the mind isn't an emergent property. Thus the mind can't be produced by matter. Thus the mind is immaterial. Computers can't produce immaterial things. Thus computers can't produce minds.
It can be deduced, not just induced, that matter cannot produce consciousness, because there is no such objective thing as "emergent properties." An electron, or any number of electrons, passing between any number of points, in any permutation, through any combination or permutation of mediums, cannot produce consciousness, because of the simple fact that matter is never objectively more than its parts.
The mind necessarily precedes quantification. Without it, no computation even has any meaning.

Then you can OC too

>TFW fell for the "Python is shit" meme
>TFW only now realized how great of a language it actually is
Why does /g/ always want to unnecessarily complicate things?
Is python a good language to learn after C?
Python isn't shit. If you're working with machine learning stuff, you're probably going to be using some Python, due to the sheer volume of Python libraries dedicated to the task.
That said, it has its flaws. It is roughly as slow as Ruby for the same reasons, and its syntax can get gross for a few things, particularly lambdas and private methods (which don't actually exist in Python).
>>59505229
It's so versatile and useful though, compared to doing everything in fucking FASM and C++
