>ask for help on programming assignment

>get smug response from classmate "you don't know how to do that? Geez how did you even make it this far?!"

Are software devs this pretentious in the industry? Is asking for help looked down upon in programming?

Unfortunately when you're around "smart people" for long enough you'll eventually come to learn that most of your peers are massively insecure about their own intelligence (because their entire concept of status derives from worshipping intellect)

this is especially true in high school, university, and academia, and in left wing circles where appearing smart / gifted is obviously encouraged by the system to an unnatural degree

anon, everyone around you is full of shit. life advice, anon, the truly intelligent people either pretend to be dumb or will be too busy working on amazing personal endeavours to talk to anyone outside of a narrow field of specialists

but yeah, the industry is slightly better

Affordable Chromebooks are either ARM or a very low spec x86 laptop. A decent Chromebook is pretty expensive considering the value of the hardware you get, and they lose their value fast anyways. They're already beat out by enterprise laptops.

But hey, at least it comes with Coreboot.

What do you do with your laptop?

99% spent on Browser? Yes.

Minor GIMP, video editing, basic programming/development, word processing? Sure

Anything beyond that? No

Just keep your install lean, everything will be alright.

For my eurofriends out there, just wanna bring to your attention two dev bootcamps that I think are worth considering. One is LeWagon, which runs in a bunch of european capitals (London Paris Lisbon Brussels etc), it's 9 or 12 weeks for 4k euros.
The other one is Coder's Lab in Poland (many different cities), 6 full weeks of coding for 2k euros, pretty cheap imo. You can choose front-end or back-end.

I haven't done any, but I'm considering doing one or the other, I think they're pretty cheap compared to most US-based bootcamps. Anybody have any experiences with either of these? I see great reviews about LeWagon everywhere, which makes me think they're either fucking awesome or shilling hard-mode.

Found this question on another /cyb/:
>List something cyberpunk-ish you do/are doing irl

For example: I've been studying for certs and running VMs inside of VMs with ESXi, Looking to set up some web facing servers for irc, teamspeak, and some other stuff. Got a guy cyber-squatting on some pretty schway domain names that he'd probably be willing to trade for some 3d design/printing work.

Anyone else?

Is Google Captcha super broken for anyone else? I answer tens of these street sign questions and always says it's wrong and gives me more. Then when it wants to select from images, it takes 10+ seconds to display those new images.

So much for being a better captcha alternative, go fuck yourself Google for ruining reCAPTCHA.
