What are the best in ear headphones /g/?
I've spent years buying headphones both on ear and over ear and everything hurts after short periods of time. So I'm looking for in ear headphones, I know I'm going to have to sacrifice sound.
I was looking at the new Xiaomi HD Pros
I'll be using them with everything (iphone, ipad, macbook, gaming pc, ps4)
Needs to have a mic and at least a working call answer/mute button, it doesn't have to have working volume controls but it would be nice.
ER4SR shits on everything. Including full size.
>best
UERM
I've had my shure's for 10 years now, still going strong.
Hey /g/. what is the best software for ripping media? (CD, DVD, BLU) I have a lg blu ray drive, I just need the software. Thanks

Buy a book about programming for beginners. I would say a book about C or Java. Then get a book about programming and abstract datatypes. good luck.
>>59517786
Why do you want to program? To impress nerds on 4chan? There are better things to do with your life.
If you do want to learn programming, first figure out what you want to do with the skill, (make a robot, set up an automated light switch, write a web platform), before anything. Once you figure that out, then you can ask the "How"
Without a goal for yourself, programming is terrible, awful, no-good, very bad experience that gets you too frustrated to do even basic shit and you'll give up in frustration at some point.

Care to exlain?
Find a flaw with this phone at this price point.
Protip: you can't
>3GB RAM/32GB ROM
>5.5" 1080p screen
>USB type-C
>NFC
>5GHz wifi
>Snapdragon 625, 8 cores @ 2GHz with an Adreno 506 GPU
>Dual sim/expandable storage
>Dual cameras
> fingerprint sensor
>All did on an unlocked phone for $230
This is such a better deal than anything fapple shits out its ridiculous and is among the best deals on Android. You cannot find a flaw.

No North American support. You're literally buying a brick because once it dies, and like all chinkshit it will die, you're fucked.
Enjoy wasting your money.
3100mAh battery kek, why cant they just make it at least 4000mAh and make it a tiny bit thicker
fuck this thin phone meme
Serious question here, not trolling. I'm relatively new to Linux, been getting comfortable with it over the past 6 months.
Is there any practical or truly useful reason for using Arch Linux aside from autism brownie points? What do you actually get that is personally beneficial
From what I'm seeing, the most widely utilized distros are: Ubuntu/Mint (General Purpose) and Redhat/CentOS/Fedora/OpenSUSE (Business & Enterprise).
Why does everyone here pump Arch up so much?
>>59517736
>Why does everyone here pump Arch up so much?
Because they're lagging behind a bit. They want a no bloat and extremely configurable distro but haven't seen the light of Void Linux yet.
Enjoy your systemd archfags

Pacman and the AUR/yaourt/pamac in my case is why I like it. Much better than hunting PPAs, copr repos or whatever said distro requires. Besides that more of the software I use is in the main repos anyways. That and it is a much leaner install.
What does /g/ think of CS MOOCS? I have some experience in Visual Basic from high school and a little bit of time in R and Perl from college (studied plant biology), but I'm looking to actually learn computer science at this point.
Should I do MIT 6.00.1x, which is archived and thus I can't get the worthless certificate
https://www.edx.org/course/introduction-computer-science-mitx-6-00-1x-9#!
Or CS50x, which is ongoing but seems to be directed towards normies:
https://courses.edx.org/courses/course-v1:HarvardX+CS50+X/info
or is there a /g/ approved option for self-taught computer science?
>>59517692
CS50 is supposedly good, but it's a bit cringy (although that's no reason to drop it). The first assignment is in scratch (that retarded programming language), and I've seen people here criticize it for that, but that's just the first one, the rest are in C.
>>59517953
Starting with scratch was one thing that turned me off of CS50. I'm not sure if it used to be just C, but now the course promises "Familiarity in a number of languages, including C, Python, SQL, and JavaScript plus CSS and HTML" which means really, it's going to superficially cover all those languages and give you nothing more than codeacademy level experience in any of them.
I'm leaning towards 6.00, but not being able to get the certificate tickles my autism. I'm also unemployed and bored out of my mind so I'll probably kill myself waiting for the next one to start
>>59517692
Complete waste of time. Also, don't be an idiot and spend money on "certificates".... theyr'e totally useless.
Few years ago, Coursera contacted people who scored the best of their MOOCs and people who took the biggest number of courses and finished them. They promised to help them find jobs and they acted as their recruiter for big SV companies.
After a bunch of interviews, you know how many of them got jobs? ZERO.
>had to create an nvidia account to turn this bullshit off
fuck nvidia
Nice username, OP.

Horrible investment. Much harder to modify and upgrade than a desktop. Stick to laptop for work, and desktop for gayming
wtf i hate nvidia now!
This board doesn't know what it's supposed to be. What is classified as technology? Literally anyone can make a thread on here saying "X is technology therefore I can talk about it freely without criticism".
There was a thread saying that fucking shower sponges were technology, and nobody argued with it.
>/g/ is for the discussion of technology and related topics.
>/g/ is NOT your personal tech support team or personal consumer review site.
And yet we have threads daily on
>OS shitflinging
>Headphones
>Watches
>Brand loyalty/shitflinging
>Chinese knockoff products
>Attention whores that want to show off their desktops, rooms, what they take to work, bullshit like this, etc.
>Asking what phone to buy, what software to use, what PC part to buy, etc.
>Programming/language shitflinging
The list just goes on and on.
And we have plenty of containment threads for this, but people still make new threads on simple bullshit.
For starters, would mods be able to add the generals to the sticky to cut back on people cluttering this already bloated board?
This is probably my favorite board on the site, but the amount of crap I have to sift through to find a legitimate/interesting/non-bait thread is unprecedented.
Hell, maybe make a second larger sticky telling people to check the catalog.

>The Pepe meme has been so successful in creating a shared bond between like minded individuals that it would be to our benefit to try and weaken its power. We propose introducing a modified version portraying Pepe the frog as retarded in appearance so as to affect the subconscious of those that invest their personalities in the smug, "fuck you" Pepe that currently pervades image boards, and, weaken the association of being tied to a defective-looking mascot.
Sure is CIA here.

There are a few different pci-e SSD's for $100 and below that are 120-256gb. Are they good purchases? That's large enough for your OS, base applications, and a game.
They are with out a doubt faster than any SATA drive by a couple times but will that actually translate to snappiness or responsiveness in real world use?
In my personal experience using a display model Surface with pci-e storage applications opened obscenely fast.
Intel 600p - 128gb $65
WD Black - 256gb $110
Corsair MP500 - 240gb $134
Samsung 960 evo - 250gb $140
I'm considering the WD Black because it's on sale. Perhaps two 128gb 600ps in RAID0 would be worth while as well.
>>59517247
NVMe raid is difficult, on Z170 at least and probably Z270 as well
600p is cheap but barely has any advantage over a SATA SSD (beside sequential reads)
The 960 evo and pro are absolutely fast
Just know that if you use your computer mainly for gaming, you are going to have little to no improvements over Sata ssd
>>59517327
Well of course in-game there would be just about no difference. I do play games on my computer but I'm using browsers, music, communications, visual studio, office, etc for the majority of the time.
>>59517290
My board in particular supports it and it's z170 and it's widely supported in z270 models.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=N82E16820249076
Is dirt cheap and only 20k 4k read iops slower than a 960 evo. Although I suppose $130 for the 250gb 960 evo is reasonable.
