FYI, one of my workmates updated to the 7 plus, the camera hump looks even worse IRL.
I'm amazed there are people willing to use such an ugly device in public.

Why are motherboard makers putting the m2 drive between the GPU and the motherboard? Is that even safe? I feel like it's just going to burn out that m2 drive.
>>59536951
It's there because it uses the PCI lane. Of course it's safe, why would it not be? It' safe from physical contact and uses so little power that it doesn't put out any heat. What are you imaging would damage it?
>>59536951
planned obsolescence
>>59536967
I've heard that m2 drives get very hot under regular use (maybe that is incorrect?) and under the GPU it'll have no ventilation and basically nowhere for the heat to go. My main concerns are premature wear on the drive, and throttling from overheating.
What are you working on, /g/?

Hello /g/uys
?
. This will probably be really weird or whatever; I have a Note5, geunine and everything, I've had it for about a year now, recently there has been some kind of glitch(?) that won't go away, I can see pic related, everywhere, inside and outside the app whenever there is a white background, not completely but just the grayed out icons, is there any fix to this?
>>59536721
Yes, I was posting this from my Note5 as I wanted to make sure those annoyning icons were still there, excuse the spoiler fuck up.

If yes which SBC is best for a file server? Current one on sftp gets 7MB/s top.

Not sure what NIC is in the bananapi, but if it's 10/100 that could explain the lousy speeds you're getting.
Also the reason why I got the C2, it has a gbit NIC
>>59536800
The NIC is in the SoC, with a realtek chip outside as PHY IIRC.
It's GbE, connected to a GbE switch.

First post best post!
Enlighten me on btrfs, /g/.
I have an old laptop with about 250GB of SSD storage on it. I want to use it with Fedora, but EXT4 is a bit old AFAIK.
Are there any advantages for me to use it on my SSD?
Does it have any issues?
>>59536431
Thank you for not saying "redpill me".
btrfs is okay, but on a single-disk system I wouldn't bother unless you're really really keen on snapshots. The core feature (like ZFS) is that it says the hell with "layering violations" and does RAID and volume management along with the checksummed file system all in one. The idea being that the filesystem can verify all data against the checksum on read. On a single-disk system, this can inform you of, but not fix, data corruption. With redundancy though, because btrfs controls both the filesystem and the RAID layer (instead of ext4 and md being two different things that neither know nor care about each other's presence) it can ask the other disks to supply the same data, and then correct the data from redundancy on the fly in write it back.
It's had its issues though. Despite it being a decade old weird corner cases still come up where everything goes to hell. It's known to not play well with certain types of heavy random workloads - databases and VM images especially. You can fix that by turning off copy-on-write... and thus also losing all of btrfs's nice features, like checksumming and cheap snapshots. RAID 0 and RAID 1 work, but RAID 5 and 6 have a bad data-corruption bug that's gone unfixed for quite some time. (presumably because Facebook, who employs Chris Mason, the lead dev, doesn't care about it) Also some people have been tripped up by odd quirks, like how RAID 1 doesn't mean "data exists on all disks", it means "all data exists on two separate disks"
It sucks because a lot of hobbyist data-hoarders want essentially exactly what btrfs does: A checksummed FS/RAID layer that, unlike ZFS, can be expanded, contracted, and rebalanced easily. If only the damned thing worked right.
I would recommend just using ext4, anon. Newer isnt always better in filesystems. You don't want the latest features as much as you want battle-hardened bug-free code.
