General /sqt/ Stupid Question Thread
my question:
How do I download packages with their dependencies for a Debian machine that has no internet access?
Is there a good tutorial out there to learn how to do diagrammatic modeling in LaTeX?
Or should I just give up and use yed and import the diagram I make to LaTeX?
Is it worth it to also/instead learn how to make graphs and shit in LaTeX?
Where the hell can I find a Windows 10 LTSB iso?
I've searched the hashes but all it lead me to were weird chinese pirate sites
and on torrent sites nearly all of them are updated versions so I can't verify if they're real
OK is there like a way you can make a local searchable database and dump all your pngs, jpegs, webm, etc? that way you would have one giant db that is cross platform and secure....i probably look pretty stupid posting this...

The mission of /ptg/ is to promote the highest possible standards of tracker disservice by providing members with opportunities for shitposting development, by recognizing tracker drama competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

Basic steps any idiot can and should do to protect from ISP data collection.
>>59630815HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF FROM COMPANIES SELLING YOUR DATA.
This is just a basic guide for normies to use. These steps require little technical knowledge to complete and will help protect you from ISP level spying. These steps WILL NOT protect you from the CIA or NSA or any other sufficiently equipped nation state.
----------BROWSER CONFIGURATIONS---------
Chrome and Firefox:
Disable the following options:
"Use a webservice to help resolve navigation issues"
"Use prediction service to help complete searches"
"Use web service to help resolve spelling errors" (Keylogger)
Add Ons:
HTTPSeverywhere (Make sure to set it to "Block all unencrypted requests")
Ublock Origin (Can help block malicious ads and popups)
The steps above will prevent your ISP from seeing what you view in your web browser but will not prevent the web sites you visit from spying on you.
----------BITTORRENT CONFIGURATIONS----------
I recommend the Transmission client for Linux and Mac users and Tixati for Windows users.
Enabled the following:
"Force/Require encryption inbound and outbound"
This will not make you anonymous but it will prevent your ISP from seeing what exactly it is you are downloading. This will not prevent the torrent trackers or torrent sites from spying on you.
----------ANDROID APPS----------
Signal:
Has encrypted voice calling and text messaging.
Wire:
Has encrypted voice calling and text messaging but server is proprietary software.
Conversations.im:
Uses XMPP. You can run your own server if you like. Uses the trusted OMEMO encryption method. No voice chat yet.
Android Settings:
You should really already be doing this to protect yourself from pick pockets but if you haven't already ENCRYPT YOUR PHONE!
Opt out of advertising. Disable the advertising ID. If you have a Samsung device make sure to also opt out of any Samsung data collection.
>>59630821
Where are the options in Firefox to disable those?
>>59630815
Fucking retard. If your ISP sells your data, they've been doing it for years. Nothing has changed. Now go be a good goy and read some more Washington Post.
Rotational velocidensity affects all audio files encoded with lossy compression. These include mp3, aac, and ogg.
The most notable effect of rotational velocidensity is the loss of bitrate in files. A lossy audio file will lose an average of 12kbps a year. But, this can vary greatly depending on the type of storage media used.
Examples:
SATA HDD: ~12kbps
IDE HDD: ~15kbps
SCSI HDD: ~7kbps
DVD: ~16kbps
CD-R/RW: >21kbps
This can be overcome by compressing audio using lossless formats such as FLAC, APE, or TTA. These formats are designed to never lose quality over time, and will sound the same right now as they will in 10 years.
Use FLAC you fucking idiot.
FLAC is jewish materialism
MP3 is Aryan efficiency

Give me one good reason why you haven't gotten the CISSP certification, aside from:

>I don't think security is important

It's a literal joke of a security. It's the new A+ for turbonerd 15 year olds who want to feel like hackers.
I don't like wasting my time to acquire a worthless certificate

I'm getting it on Cybrary just for fun, and I kinda wanna get a headstart in IT as soon as possible.
Was Apple Watch a mistake?
I don't think so. I'm glad that there was a really widely popularized trial of smartwatches. It gave definitive evidence that industry sci-fi dreams aren't yet aligned with reality.
>>59629212
nothings wrong with the apple watch im glad it, popularized smart watches and they are main stream now.
>>59629212
Yes. They should have realized that the only benefit to having a "smart watch" is the instantaneousness of having it on your wrist and designed all the software on the watch to revolve around an implied "right the fuck now", completely done away with a tiny touch screen and done everything through voice. Instead, we got wrist phones.
