If you don't know how to Google this kind of shit, you will never be a decent programmer.

Assuming this isn't bait.

AOL Instant Messenger went offline today, unless you want to use their browser login or their most recent version which sucks.

What other Instant Messengers out there are similar or better than AIM? I'm looking for an IM that doesn't require an email or phone number, just a username or account with the software.

Any program where you can easily share pictures off the web/PC, no lag in sending messages, message encryption are all a plus, but I'm open to anything you guys use.

What's the preferred way of physically sending large data now? I mean in the 15+ GB range.

Blu-ray? Not a lot of people have Blu-ray drives. USB sticks are still expensive and I'm giving them a free device.

Why is raspberry pi so popular for cheap home servers?

Wouldn't it make sense to go for a cheap x86 solution like the D2550, J1900, or some cheap laptop with a broken screen off eBay?

RPi doesn't even have sata or Gbit lan for fucks sake.

Can someone please explain this for me?

Post your component list, rate other anons', ask questions in general.

Always state the purpose of your PC, your budget, AND YOUR COUNTRY if outside the USA.
If you are asking for improvements, clarify whether you want to lower price, or improve specs or build quality.

I currently have an i5-4670K running at 4.2GHZ OC

I want to upgrade to the new a new Ryzen CPU (I'm thinking the 1700x) but after looking at how mine currently stacks up to the 1800x, im re-thinking.

Current GPU is a 970.

Would it begin to be worth it to upgrade to a Ryzen 1800x and GTX 1070? Or would I be throwing lots of money at something that would only net me a little increase in performance?

Elaborate what you mean by this. It's not maintaining 60fps anymore? CAD too slow? Your PC lagging unnecessarily at times?
