Sup /g/, im looking for a new screen.

So i went to the local computer store, and this guy told me that i should get a 144hz monitor, but i dont see a fucking difference between a 144hz and 60hz one.

What monitor should i get? And is 144hz really a meme?

144hz is really only for CS tryhards. If you have the money sure, but I would rather get a 4k 60hz

Is only for neckbeard 'pro' gaymurs. Not the kind of person you wan to be associated with.

>asks me what she can do
>"Well, at a minimum you'll need a VPN"

>"If you aren't paying for it, you're not a customer, you're the product being sold. You'll have to spend at least five bucks a month"

This is why we can't have nice things. Normies will complain but at the end of the day they won't lift a finger to change anything. See also: How they rarely or never switch mobile providers for a lower bill, letting them just sit back and keep prices high.

Why didn't you offer to set up alternative services for her then, faggot?

I did. She refused. Too much trouble.

She won't even log out of gmail when she's done with it, clicking logout and hitting a lastpass button to enter her credentials again when she wants to check her email is apparently also too much work, so she surfs the web logged into google at all times.

how do I get into Vim?
I've been using it for a few weeks now and got the basic keys down, but it still feels more like its slowing me down instead of helping.
Any idea how to approach getting gud with it?

It does not get good if the only thing what you are doing is typing. It gets awesome when you need to procedurally do things. Read the "Power of g" page from wiki.

The advantage of modes is that you can clearly separate how you input commands from when you edit things.

>>59655962
hmm alright, so I shouldn't really be using it for just simple programming?

I've been a programmer for 12 years now. I have seen too many programs that sucks. If you ask me which is the second worst shit i cannot tell you. But if you ask me the first, i would immediately say s*ype. How can a program suck so badly. I wish all the programmers, designers or a fucking officeboy who contributed skype would die in fires.

TL;DR skype sucks so badly, give me a fucking alternative.

So I bought an RX480 and its getting hot as fuck inside my ZALMAN T4 Mini M-ATX/M-ITX Tower Computer Case, any reccomendations on alternative cases or coolers? Or methods of keeping the temp below 60"
10 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>59655467
60 C is a pretty normal idle/non-gaming temperature for modern graphics cards. Certainly not "hot as fuck." Usually means the fans are either off or running at like 4% speed.
>>
>>59655558
What would be the best method for checking this, the card is an absolute beast but anything the sims 3, and overwatch on max res will set it making funny noises. Disturbing noises.
>>
>>59655467
Mine idles at like 50. Turn your fans to 40% and it will keep it cooler if it bothers you. As long as it's not throttling during use, you should be fine.

This. I also don't want to go through all the fucking trouble of making the switch to GNU+Linux and avoiding my contact with the botnet.
>>
>>59655311
Because it's higher quality and there's no proof of the claimed benefits of opensource - namely, there's no proof opensource is botnet-free, and in actuality, there's plenty of evidence the NSA has just as much vulns available on opensource software as it has on proprietary software.

How useful is a network+ certification for someone who has no degree or technical schooling to put on a resume?

Do you know of good resources to study for it?
15 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
>>59654968
on one hand, you gotta start somewhere.

on the other hand, a cert with no degree is only worth anything combined with other certs and experience.
>>
>>59654968
any current, relevant cert is good to put on a resume as long as it's applicable to the job you're applying for
>>
>>59656432
so far I can only think of network+ being applicable to the sort of work I am starting in, to help advance me elsewhere after gaining experience here.
What else would be wise to pair with a network+? Certainly not A+?

I do have. I don't have other uses for it rather than the radio hearing itself and it's boring if you don't know how to decrypt stations, which I don't. I would like to use it for watching TV as is supposed to function, but cant get it working for that purpose.
A friend of mine uses it for satellite images and flights monitoring though, but i don't see the point

It's what you said: throw in a bunch of mid-high end components into a cheap case and call it a gaming laptop.

Macbooks are sold mainly due to the software that is included with the computer, and the god tier customer support is pretty great.

Apple is still a shit company but they do make pretty good products.

why do you say the build quality is crap? there's some plastic used in conjunction with aluminum, there's nothing crap there.

as far as quality control, asus is on the top of the heap of non-business windows laptops; they're the only manufacturer that seems to understand that quality control is paramount, just look at their all-aluminum laptops that everyone and their mother is copying (finally) for the windows platform.

get it, i've had one and it hasn't given me an issue ever; plus asus warranty is based, they'll replace it no questions asked so near the end of the warranty just "accidentally drop" the laptop and get a brand new one free.

Search history already is purchasable. There was literally nothing stopping google from selling it, along with every bit of tracking data they have on you linking you to your social media accounts and other identifying information.

I'm assuming this is targeted at the latest fake news about ISPs selling your data. It's fake news because they ignore the fact that IT'S ALREADY LEGAL FOR ISPS TO SELL THE DATA THEY HAVE ON YOU. The law merely aborted a regulation that was planned to go into effect next year.

Secondly, your ISP doesn't know your search history. It's illegal for your ISP to snoop the contents of a packet. Even if they attempted, your google searches, along with 99% of your other internet activities, are encrypted. The only thing your ISP knows is that you are communicating with an IP address, they know nothing of the contents of the communication.
