When did you realize that BSD is a better license than GNL?
When I realized that there is no license called called the 'GNL'.
>>59663939
As if Stallman forced people to do what he says. He advocates for software freedom, and we should be grateful as lots of things wouldn't have been conquered in this fight if it wasn't for him. He just wants to give us the chance to be free.
Also
>BSD is a better license than GNL
1. It's GNU you fool
2. If you like to see people make money in your place over your free software, go ahead.
>>59664279
It's GPL, not GNU you fucktard.

Hmm It's actually not supposed to say doing anything at the end. Got to fix it hold on.
Ive got small as fuck cables I need to strip but they're too small to do it with a cutter
Saw a video of someone heating the plastic with a lighter and swiping it off
Would that be safe or will it damage the core cable ?
I know your not here to answer my question, but Ive got no one else to ask and would be forever gratefull

Assembled in the USA is something very different than "Made in the USA", which in itself doesn't actually mean that much.

Is Thunderbird a botnet?
It regularly phones home to your mail provider's centralized server, so yes.

I sniffed some packets coming out of thunderbird... It connected to smtp.google.com instead of Gmail.com. I guess nothing is safe anymore

any cross-platform alternatives?
Hi anons, I decided to install this beautiful piece of software on my laptop, but I have a 256 GB SSD and can't waste too much space since I already have the whole Gentoo partition and heavy software like Maya using a lot of space, so I need to carefully choose which workloads to install.
I need it to make games with Unity, compile stuff from GitHub, create C++ programs (which use Windows system calls) and maybe some Visual C#/C++ applications (not that I love that pajeet stuff but it's still a quicker way to make graphical interfaces than Javax.Swing), and who knows, even some Android development in the future? Not really interested in making web apps with this since I already use Visual Studio Code for HTML/CSS/JS, which is a lot quicker and less bloated. Please help me choose the minimal packages.
The whole thing is over 50 GB welp
>>59663701
Uncheck everything and press the cancel button.
>>59663701
only if you install everything, and even then I’m not sure it goes over 20GB.
With only tools like Git and the tools needed for C++ and C#, my installation is a bit less than 4GB. But I agree it’s still a lot.

what makes closed back worse? does open back mimic a full stereo setup better?
>>59663709
Headphone drivers are transducers. They convert electricity into movement. And what is it moving? Air. With closed cans, you have a limited amount of air inside of the headphone. Hence, you can't properly move a lot of air and back of the headphone creates a low pressure region which opposes the movement of the membrane. It's a mess to model properly.
Incidentally, if you've ever wondered why every IEM has a little hole somewhere, that's why.
I think most of the people don't need closed-back phones. Even in an office, if you don't blast the audio, people even 6ft away won't heat a thing. If you live in a noisy dormroom, once you put the music on, you won't hear a thing around you.
Closed is a must for air-travel, active noise cancellation situations, monitoring audio/microphones, airplane pilots, gaymer headsets and so on.

Evening.
Guys I have a serious question. I have windows 7 on my computer and I have used it for years and I am very comfortable with it. My school offers windows 10 for free. Should I get it? What are the pros and cons?
>>59663660
yes
pros:
it's better
cons:
it's spyware
>>59663660
Yes, you should get it, because it's the future.
Pros: It's the future.
Cons: Botnet, some shit is more complicated (like making a simple desktop shortcut from the start menu.
>>59663660
If it's Education edition, get it. It's like Windows 10 Enterprise, but with a different name. Plus, you don't even have to deal with Cortana if you get Education.
Fairly new PC gamer here,

Regarding the board, sorry if its not right, I use 4chan infrequently and felt this was more of a tech question than a game one.
>>59663548
>i5
there's your problem. wildlands is a cpu hog. pick up a 7700k or ryzen 1700+.
>rx 480
excellent card, but 1080p will be its absolute limit in wildlands. if you want to game higher, or smoother at 1080p then either a 1070 or 1080.
>8gb of ram
go 16gb or go home.
The new Chrome update is adding Android Apps, how can Windows even compete at this point?
Chromebooks are cheaper, simple, and appeal to most peoples internet usage. The OS is super lightweight and doesn't strain the hardware as much unlike Windows. They also generally look more visually appealing than a low-end Windows laptop.
Why haven't you bought one yet?

Hey /g/. I am trying to get a laptop without hardware backdoors for just in case. Do you know since when this shit got implemented anywhere. Pentium 4, 3 or even older?
Stallman thinks his X60 is safe, so probably any CD or C2D is safe.
>>59663364
So a core2duo is the most modern hardware without kow level backdoors you mean? Basically everthing before the i-series i guess?

How does someone make a successful app? [spoiler]For normies[spoiler]
>>59663242
>pretending you're not a normie
An app with a simple "on/off" icon for your homescreen.
Whenever you had a boner, you would turn it on. When it retreated, switch back to off.
Basically, the app would use your phone's GPS to place the location of you and your boner on a world/local map. You'd be able to see how many people in the world currently have boners.
You'd also be able to see large clusters of boners in your area and be like "whoa...I better get down there. Something's going on that's giving everyone a boner".
Facebook/Twitter integration would be a must.
You could track friends' boners so you could shoot them a text like "congrats on the boner" and collect stats for yourself and others, e.g. boner frequency, boner duration, prime boner time.
You'd probably also want bluetooth or NFC to alert you of boners within 100ft of you so you know to knock before walking in a room and getting an eyeful of boner.
Call it Bonr.
