Are VPNs actually any good for protecting privacy or are they just a 'meme'?
Host your own vpn for 5$/mo through amazon or digital ocean or
Swiftonsecurity is blowing hot air out his roleplaying asshole.
Tay is just being a contrarian edgelord. I can't really blame her for it since there are many autists out there who believe VPNs are a magic bullet, but writing all VPNs off as "you just want to feel like a leet haxor" is asinie.
>use VPN
>flags up
>they use hardware backdoor to just track you from your end rather than the network's end
Not totally a meme, but not the cure-all people make them out to be.
Hi /g/
I'm negotiating an contract with an 'employer' that I contract to.
They're putting a shit 'we own everything you create' clause in it, even though I'm a contractor not an employee and the contract is with my incorporated business, not personally.
What's the worst IP ownership clauses you've had in your contracts?
What are the best?
I've had to put my foot down once before in a job and got something kind of watered down but this time, I'm not really in a position to argue since I actually have a very sweet deal except for this and can get around this clause in various ways.
If your company is small you can usually just incorporate another and sell the old one to the new.
>>59667855
If you actually plan on doing any work just get them to sign an exclusion or something
>>59667908
>If your company is small you can usually just incorporate another and sell the old one to the new.
Yeah, I was thinking that too. I might do that, or I might register IP ownership with my company as a personal asset that my company just manages for me. So I can rent webservers through it (i.e. before tax) but it doesn't actually own anything that I do on them.
>>59667983
>If you actually plan on doing any work just get them to sign an exclusion or something
Sure but I just don't want to. I'd have to do that for every repo that I do a PR on, or even just say, workshop content that I release on Steam.
Hey /g/
Because my motherboard is so cramped, the CoolerMaster T4's cooler touches my RAM stick. In order to avoid that, I ended up inverting the cooler's direction and turning the heatsink around as in picture, so the cooler sucks air from the heatsink instead of blowing into it. It's blowing to the back the same way.
What do you think, would this affect its performance somehow?
hmmm why don't you try asking reddit, the website you have an image uploading application on your telephone for

I worked at a retail store 5 years ago.
I make $130,000 annually now writing complicated software for a respectable company. I don't care if 'complicated software' sounds meme tier.
I am entirely self taught, everything I know was learned on the job or in a coffee shop somewhere out of text books I bought off amazon after talking to educators or from hours and hours of grueling frustration and little sleep.
This includes, design patterns, algorithms, discrete math, statistics, OS(s), shells, databases...everything you would get from B.S Computer Science.
I am more competent, adaptable, less socially awkward than almost all of my peers.
Holy fuck it has been a rough experience.

how the fuck can a company make a cpu with billions of circuits? even with a team of a thousand wouldn't this take eons to organize?
Well the great thing about architecture is that there are a lot of patterns. You can design a small component with specific functionality and then copy paste it where necessary (so to speak). Now days we can use Machine Learning to help plan circuits and such like VLSI layout.
>>59667694
so for example, is an ALU just a copy paste of the basic circuit needed for an adder? if i just opened up VLSI and pasted an adder a billion times could i make my own x86 chip?

have you guys noticed that your cyberpunk resources are like entirely fiction and "retro" music? do something cool yourself
For true cyberpunk you should move all these resources to deep web and enable access based on an encryption challenge

Pretty sure it's 1939. Though I don't know why the Russians WANT Hitler in charge of a major power. I think they're in for a nasty surprise if they think we're on their side.
