why do they call it "10nm" when there's nothing in the transistor that's actually 10nm?

10nm is the minimum feature size the process can make. Just like printers resolution is measured in DPI instead of something like characters per page.
>>
>>59707780

so if the process is capable of making 10nm features, why are no features 10nm?

What's the average failure rate of a CPU die?
It's probably 97% at this point, everything is so fucking small now.

>>59707567
failure should be about the same % of surface area as before, meaning smaller the chips more yield.

What is a good vegan programming language, /g/?
I'm looking for something to reflect my personality, so I want to find a language whose creators are very environmentally aware. I think that's important because the quality of a language is also determined by the mindset of it's creators, so if the language is made by like-minded people, I feel like I would have an easier time developing and understanding the underlying philosophy.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Got a Samsung J1 for free, guy forgot his password so gave me the phone in exchange for some frozen hamburger.

Factory Reset put it into a locked mode and it keeps wanting to verify over wifi.

Its got an emergency call option and I tried putting some numbers I found online but those didnt give me any extra options or menus to check.

It has no Sim Card and I dont have any sim cards to put in it. So ive got to get it working without that, end of story.

I dont care about making calls with it. I just want it for wifi/mp3/camera but its pretty crucial because I dont have any other phones right now.

You can unlock all android phones by doing a factory reset, you're just not doing it properly.
Don't really care about your backstory though.
>>
>>59706797
return it Jamal
>>
>>59706851
So how you do that?

This is what I did:
Turn on phone while holding Volume Up+Home+Power key. Boot menu comes up, choose wipe data/factory reset. Select Yes near the bottom half of the list. Reboot system.

However upon booting it up it asks for a sim card (none in sight) or to go online to have me login with samsung specifically to check if it matches the account of the previous user.

> even the dude I got it from didnt know his password

I dont have an account at samsung and I couldnt care less to have one.

I need to bypass all of this shit and just get the phone working as an MP3 player.

GNU/Linus is now taking over the gaming scene. Windows, XBox and Praystation users are BTFO.

"During March 2017 there was a tiny increase in the Linux gaming population, according to the Steam Survey. During February was just a 0.75% marketshare for Linux while in March it increased... by 0.02%. The March stats from the Steam Survey show Linux up to a 0.77% marketshare. "

Want to be trendy? Install GNU/Linux now and become a part of the future.
