I know really that this has to be the case, you're always putting yourself at the mercy of whoever cracked it.
Any tips from anyone though? To minimize risk, let's say. I don't really mind the loss of my money, just Microsoft gaining it. If there's some way for me to gain a copy by burning $200 let me know.

Recently I found out about Secure Scuttlebutt, a peer-to-peer platform where each account is comprised of public/private crypto keys and an append-only log/diary.
This allows to create, for example, a completely decentralized and encrypted Twitter/e-mail replacement:

It has a lot of advantages, and it makes surveillance and censorship impossible.
So... how about an imageboard based on SSB? The only thing needed would be a list of public keys, and since there are no accounts you could generate a new pair for each post. Deleting posts wouldn't be possible. It seems like an interesting experiment. What do you think?

Do you mean using the API?
You're going to need to program for that, I believe there is a third party tool that could interface the programming for you but not sure on functionality.
And you could use websockets or streaming sockets with most modern languages.
