Currently building a gaming PC and was wondering if I should use a Nvidia GTX 1080 Ti graphics card or the AMD Radeon RX 480with quadratic MD5-hash capabilities
dumb anime poster
lmao like any games even use modern graphics cards. they're all shitty console ports

That's rude
>He doesn't shitpost with Emacs
Why even live?
Emacs is a great OS, it just lacks a decent text editor.
>>59778537
There's plenty of decent text editors for Emacs. Just google it.
>>59778537
Emacs is a great environment for playing games.
I have an i7-6700k at 4.56 GHz while using a huge AF Noctua NH-D15. It's sitting idle at 40C. What the fuck did I do wrong?

Guys I'm losing my mind here trying to set up 2 qnix 1440p monitors on an Asus 1080 graphics card.
The card has, 2 hdmi, 2 displayport and one dvi-d
Both monitors confirmed working, all cables working but no matter how I plug them in only one monitor stays on at a time. Windows 10 will not detect a second no matter how they are configured.
I have a 750 power supply and besides, these monitors come with their own power supply so being underpowered can't be the issue.
Help a brother out please. It doesn't help the monitors menu is in fucking Korean either. Motherboard is Asus maximus ix
There's your problem, it's in korean, everyone knows Kim Jong in is the only one allowed to have a dual monitor setup up in the north, all you gotta do is switch it to English or any non foreign power language and it should be good.
>>59778432
B-but they're made in South Korea anon
try:
device manager -> monitors -> update drivers
device manager -> display adapters -> update drivers
display settings -> check any messed up settings
also:
>he bought a titan
>he bought a novideo product
>implying any other graphics card can run games as smooth as the Titan.
You know other GPU manufactures, also manufacture false data to make it seem like they can run at 1080p 60+ but in reality only the Titan can run all game smoothly

There aren't any for you, your job requires too many proprietary applications with no GNU/Linux support.

>TFW libreoffice is fucking garbage and unusable
Why would you ever need LibreOffice?

How to learn libreoffice and get good?

That was clearly a mistake.
With the move by the latest console manufacturers to using graphics ram in their machines, how much do you wanna bet that in the next cycle (assuming there will be another generation) will use high bandwidth memory? HBM offers lots of memory density in a small area and offers high data bandwidth. Hell, why not HBM for anything that doesn't use upgradable RAM, like laptops or set top boxes? What's the likelihood of this happening?
Pretty likely I think.
Not for system memory, because CPUs aren't designed to be interfaced with it currently, but for the dedicated graphics, why not? Saves space and is high speed.
>>59778159
Next *Lake refresh is rumored to use an AMD GPU on the die along with a slab of HBM with it. Could spell very good performance and a move to full integration with CPUs sooner rather than later.
>>59778159
>CPUs aren't designed to be interfaced with it currently
What's stopping them from putting a HBM2 memory controller inside the CPU, instead of a DDR4 one? I.e. 4 Ryzen cores + Polaris 10 + 16GB HBM2 for small form factor builds.
Hey /G/
Newfag to this board, but fuck it. I need help and while I think I have a solution I just want to make sure I have all of my bases covered.
A week ago I started receiving a "Hard Disk Error" message on my laptop. I managed to back up all of my important files but I didn't clone the drive.
Taking this as a sign of opportunity, I decided to upgrade to an SSD and managed to score a decent one on the cheap.
Here's the fucking kicker though: I don't have an OS installer. I will admit that I'm a lazy fuckbag because I haven't bothered to learn how to Linux, I don't have my Win8 install disk but for some reason I still have the sleeve the disk came in and what I think are the relevant numbers, and it might not be too late to clone the drive.
I have the gear for treating an internal drive as an external, so one of my possible solutions would be to clone the drive as an external then copy the image over to the new SSD.
Or I could find some way to torrent Win8.
Or I could nut up and find some way of downloading and installing Linux on the new SSD (which will probably never happen but just thought I'd say it in a desparate attemtp to make you happy).
Any advice?
>>59777993
Did you try to find the iso on microsoft's website? you know you can still upgrade to win10 for free prob right?
>>59778013
Is it just the upgrade or the full installer that's free?
You can download the full Windows 10 ISO on Microsoft's website and you don't even need a key to install it. You can activate it later.

Sup /g/,
Can any Canadian developers offer some insight here? I'm about to graduate uni with a CS degree, but I have been self-studying programming/networking/security/etc for the past 10 years or so, so my skills are pretty sharp.
My issue is my criminal record -- I have a single common assault summary conviction. I've only ever applied for an internship in the public sector. The technical interviews/tests were fairly easy to pass, but I was denied a TS clearance due to being on probation.
With that said: do I stand any chance of obtaining employment in the private sector (looking specifically to move to GTA), or should I reconsider my options entirely? Was thinking if I couldn't gain employment in BC or Quebec (afaik they can't discriminate based on unrelated offences), I'd be better off just doing labour jobs for the next few years until I can get a pardon. Would especially love to hear from any Canadians or Americans who also have records. Thanks /g/.

if you don't work in something related to your degree, it will become worthless
not every place will do a background check I guess
government = forget it.
everywhere else = depends.
>>59778030
Depends on what? Company size? I haven't seen too many postings where they explicitly indicate that a check would be performed, so even then I'm not too sure...
Can we have a GPD Win shill thread?
I always love the shitposting and tech illiterate comments who don't know anything about low power computing.

If you were that attached to being a corporate data factory for Amazon, you'll probably feel right at home using a chromebook and being a corporate data factory for Google you fucking shill. I hope you have two children in your life: one of which is born with a horrific combination of mental and physical disabilities, and one of which shows great promise as an athlete, but suffers a terrible injury during puberty which causes him/her to lose significant motor function but still be cognizant of the great personal and financial loss that this injury and/or disease has caused him/her that causes him/her to spiral into a near-suicidal depression and an addition to several illegal drugs and a criminal record.
None. Openbox.
