"I used to think that it was a privilege to serve people who also loved the idea of service, but now I think many members of the free software community are just deeply anti-social types who love to hate on whatever is mainstream. When Windows was mainstream they hated on it. Rationally, Windows does many things well and deserves respect for those. And when Canonical went mainstream, it became the focus of irrational hatred too. The very same muppets would write about how terrible it was that IOS/Android had no competition and then how terrible it was that Canonical was investing in (free software!) compositing and convergence. Fuck that shit." - Mark Shuttleworth

He just wanted to build his own ecosystem on desktop/mobile and gave up without any clear reason.
And shitposters posts shitposts. Nothing to do.
>I did, personally, attempt to get the convergence movement going in both GNOME and KDE. In both cases, the ideas were resoundingly rejected.
>We hired designers initially, but the feedback from GNOME (well, Red Hat really ;)) was "who do you think you are to show up and tell us what GNOME should look like when you are not bringing code". And that's fair enough really, it's their desktop. Although I would say, code got rejected pretty aggressively too ;)
>In the KDE case, it was more about the personality of the leader at the time, who I think felt threatened and insecure.

>There are three possible edits that can be performed on a string.

>2. Delete a char.
>3. Replace a char.
>Given two strings, determine if they are one or 0 edit away.
You have 30 minutes, or else we report that we couldn't find any local engineers for the job and hire a foreign worker.
>>59799931
Well its given in the problem that the strings are either one edit away or 0 - that is, identical. So I call strcmp() and if it says the strings are equal, they're 0 edits away, and if it says they're different, they're one edit away.
>>59800105
Doesn't strcmp stop when it reaches a difference? What if chars after that are different too?
>>59800152
Then the string would be more than one edit away, and the problem states that they can only be one or zero edits away.
What went wrong?

Is FreeBSD any good? I'm seriously considering rolling back to Windows 7 and dual booting with FreeBSD
>>59799770
It really depends what you do with your computer, and how well your hardware is supported by FreeBSD.
If you cant live without Paint 3D for example, it's not a good idea.
Why choose freeBSD over a random linux distro?
>>59799770

Let's switch from OS that has most support and enormous software library to something with marketshare of a carphone.

Thinking of getting this for my first tablet;
http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_602714.html?wid=11
However, a review online mentions constant static from the 3.5mm jack. Yet nobody else has mentioned it. Anyone have one to confirm?
Im reposting coz i got no answers last time . Apologies if its a noob question, but i did not find an answer.
Hi /csg/ so i ordered tada68 from aliexpress a while ago and it still hasn't arrived. There are 3 days until the order closes.
Do i open a dispute few hours before it does so to get a refund, or do i wait for the thing to be finished before I do ?
Thanks in advance :)

Daily reminder to empty your recycle bin. Just emptied 3 exabytes of data from mine.

Shift + Delete
You should only empty your recycle bin when there is absolutely no space left.
Okay /g/ I have moved to Linux now what?

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
>>59799356
it's GNU\Linux
