Hey, I'm here asking for some help
What would you guys reccomend to learn this language? I actually learned the basics, I think fully, but then i dropped programming for a while. I want to keep earning because I'm going to System's Engineering in a few months.
Specifically Python 3 if it's possible, but what do you think it's better? Some book? Any webpage like codechef?
Thanks in advance guys

What is "System's Engineering"?
Here is the book you're wanting: https://www.amazon.com/Python-Programming-Introduction-Computer-Science/dp/1590282752/ref=pd_sim_14_5?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=1590282752&pd_rd_r=5EA9PZWH8GBY6ZB5N6JG&pd_rd_w=mcL9y&pd_rd_wg=LALR9&psc=1&refRID=5EA9PZWH8GBY6ZB5N6JG

So /g/ what software/app do you use to manage to-do lists synced across multiple devices?
My pending tasks are getting a bit out of hand so I figured something like this might come in handy
I'm currently looking at:
Evernote: the free plan fucking sucks
OneNote: Microsoft can't into UIs like usual
Simplenote: text only
Google Keep, which is unfortunate because I'm trying to leave the botnet
>>59818466
Same google keep, for to do lists, zotero for data aggregation with mixed results so far.

Checked and thanks, doc.
Hi /g/
I am doing a project which involves predicting how the security aspects will be, 50 years from now. Do you have any suggestions?
Some things we thought:
> AI robots taking control
> IOT becoming vulnerable
> Nano dust etc controlling/affecting humans
> Biometrics becoming replicate-able
> Someone figures out way to hack block chain

Thank you! This is very relevant.

CAPTCHA's will have to improve a lot or be replaced entirely when the serious AI developments start giving results.
Is connecting your phone to your monitor instead of using a real PC the next big trend? They tried this before and it didn't take off, but now Samsung is going balls deep into it.
Probably gonna fail. If I have a monitor somewhere around, I also should have a PC. Just like Microsoft failed with their Windows phone to PC thingie.
The idea makes no sense to me. A laptop shell that you plug your phone into would be more logical, if you have a dedicated area for a monitor, keyboard, and mouse, you're just going to use a fucking desktop. Whereas with a laptop you could essentially use it anywhere whenever you needed a keyboard or a larger screen.
>>59817974
eh, for low intensity work(shit done by lots of all-in-one PC's or netbooks) it seems to make more sense than having a bunch of units around.
My plan was to use my tablet as my media player(kodi) but after i bought it, i found out LG killed the MHL/slimport support on their newest Gpad's... If they hadnt, id have consolidated even more shit, rather than buying a chink android TV box... Why not do the same with a phone -> computer? Its not like it would take a bite out of the pc gaming sector, or photo/video editing.
Holy shit, what if he's right?
What if a true A.I. already exists?

Jesus christ, what a fucking retarded video.
What is going to happen to the tech industry I wonder now that we're at the point where higher tech isn't making a difference anymore?
For example:
Even if I could get 300fps it wouldn't matter as human eyes can only see 60fps.
Even if we had 100,000k monitors it wouldn't matter because the human eye can only see so many.
Even if we had the most insanely fast processors, programs only need to process so much. It seems were hitting that point right now. Just an interesting thought and I was curious what you all thought.
Processors are still too slow for AI and ray tracing

You're retarded

April 20 will be the date of the desktop competition.
Make your desktop look badass and post in the competition on April 20. We're bringing back destaps to /g/, starting with a competition to see who has the best one.
Rules:
• anime allowed but you can't be a faggot about it
• no making destap threads into clique bullshit
• no begging for configs (configs may be provided, but spoonfeeding very much discouraged)
• All OS allowed, except phone faggotry
Winner will get a 4chan pass provided by myself. I'd also like this thrad to be stickied so everyone can know about the desktop competition coming on April 20.
Thanks, and see you in the competition.

Take a long look. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.

Post more webms
>lincucks
is this the new desktop thread
>massive amount of overhead
>Need a huge amount of RAM
>a single bit-flip can destroy your entire RAID array
>ECC RAM or you get fucked
Why is ZFS considered the greatest ever?
I don't know. I've never had problems with ext*, although only ever used ext3 and ext4, but mostly ext4. Although I am a pleb with minimal data and thus rsync suffices for redundant backups.
Why would anyone use anything other than ECC RAM for a network storage device?
Am I supposed to enjoy having to restart my server every month because the sector of memory that hosts critical OS functions got its bits flipped by background radiation?
>>59817069
For pooling drives, it's pretty great. The bad RAM/ECC thing is overblown, and incredibly unlikely to be an issue (much less a likely issue than two slowly failing drives in a hardware RAID array).
For your normal everyday use file system, there's not a point to it, but for large pools or network storage, it's good. Honestly, what else do you think would be better?
So what format will win the new package manager war?
>>59816948
Containerization on servers. (Docker)
Flatpak on desktops
