Is Ryzen compromised?
does it have the equivalent of Intel's ME?
>>59844886
yes, it actually does.

AMD CPUs have been compromised for years now... Same with Intel ones.
AMD is just as bad if not worse than Intel.

Fucking hell is there ONE decent CPU that isn't botnetfucked?
There's backdoors in all the operating systems.
Using Linux won't save you.
Even if true, open source backdoor > proprietary backdoor. I think hardware-level exploits are more concern, since you're limited in choice there.
>>59844860
Using Linux is vastly superior to using a proprietary kernel/OS in this case. With regards to FOSS, you are always able to examine the source code yourself and see whatever vulnerabilities exist there, this often results in them being spotted and fixed quickly by the community.
With proprietary systems you need to trust Micro$hit etc to not fuck you over because you yourself can't see into the inner workings of the system. With GNU/Linux you will know if there is a backdoor in your system because you could simply find it yourself, with Windows you will never know, you are always in the dark and at the mercy of Shill Gates and the CIA.
>>59845040
no significant backdoors will ever be fixed in linux, except in their case it'll be because of open sores incompetence instead of malicious intent.
You're using your time share computer system and this guys slaps your shell's ass.

Hey /g/ents,
I wrote some software for my PhD and it's gaining some traction in my field.
My question is which license should it have?
Currently I have the MIT license, but I'm going off other people in my field.
The ownership of the software is split between me (the author), my mentor (the lab I work in) and the university (because they get a share from all creative content)
I would like people to share and distribute my software, cite me if they make changes, and NOT use it for monetary purposes.
That's to say academics are allow to do whatever they wish to my program, but private companies cannot directly sell my software. Private companies are allowed to use it for their own research and other products, just not allowed to re-sell the actual software.
>For interested peoples it's a software used for genotyping variants in whole genome sequences.
Please no trolls. This is really important for me and I respect /g/'s opinion on the matter
I'm not any kind of expert here, but MIT gives anyone the ability to do anything while only giving you credit. Your requirements are atypical and may require a custom license. Even gpl doesn't restrict profiting.

You answered your own question. GPL.

i'm afraid no matter what OS you use it doesn't matter, if the NSA or some intelligence organization wants your data, they WILL get it. CPU manufacturers are Jews and built in backdoors so even if they can't get in from software they can from hardware. And there is no use in having """free""" hardware since it's all garbage...pretty depressing really. Privacy is dead.
There is no proof in this article. Stop creating noise so that people can actually find signal when there is one.
This is a thread to share with other /g/ lurkers and posters what little gemstones you've found over the years that improves your computer's quality of life.

Fuck the Linux community, this is why desktop Linux will never be a thing.

Nothing to do with Linux. This is some desktop environment out of thousands. Probably runs in a bunch of systems that aren't Linux nor have anything to do with Linux.
