I've never seen a thread on this, so I thought I'd make one. The other day I got a samsung wireless charger, although mine's white unlike pic related. It was $49CAD at a small town shop (I broke my charger port and had to get one).

Its honestly kind of mediocre. The phone has to be almost completely centered on it, it takes like 2-ish hours to charge from dead to full, whereas the fast charger that came with the phone took 30min and I get the feeling judging by the weight that a lot of it is just empty plastic, which makes it kind of shitty to carry around in your pocket. I bet they could make it the size of a credit card and it would work just as well. Its kind of convenient I guess, and I'll probably use it with my next phone while I'm sleeping or whatever, but for on-the-go I doubt I'll bring it with me anywhere.

Are there any improvements, break throughs or even research into this field? The concept of wireless power fascinates me, but it seems kind of practically useless at this point, when things have to be right on top of the charger and not, say, within 5 feet or something.

Thats the reason why this things never kick off, i actually "invented" the wireless charge, completely diffrent then that sht. It was suppose to use wifi tech + tesla coil n charge ur phone from a distance, had a wprking prototype that charged from a >10ft distance but it was slow(often times u heavy using ur phone would beat the charge rate). I sold it to X company n thy said they will fund it n follow threw but that was all bs n now we got this stupid sht, whats the point of wireless charging the product is tht stupid.

I agree with everything you said, but for some reasons I have doubt that you did what you say
>>
why didn't you buy a fast "quickcharge" wireless charger? What did you expect?

Ok, so I unboxed and plugged in my Blue Yeti Pro for the first time today, and it's not picking up any sound, regardless of settings.

The power is on, I installed the official driver (on W10) and the system recognizes it, it's not muted, but when I try to record all I get is silence (or occasionally distorted buzzing noise when i increase the gain and talk directly into it).

I tried restarting the PC, reinstalling drivers, using different USB slots, three different mini USB cables, on two different PCs, and nothing helps. When I plugged in earbuds at the bottom to listen to it, I could hear the buzzing and crackling noise a lot clearer, but otherwise no difference. It reacts to sound, but not the way it should.

At this point I'm pretty sure the unit is defective, but sadly I ordered it online over 6 months ago so I can't return or exchange it. I'm still hoping it's a problem with the USB port, and not the mic itself, but I can't test the XLR connector until I get my mixer board later this month.

Anyone had a similar issue? Any ideas? Please tell me I'm not stuck with a $250 paperweight lol.

Damn op, that sucks... Always test everything as soon as you get it, especially if you order from less than reputable dealers. I learned that lesson the hard way too. Sorry I can't help, hope you can get it working somehow.

Alright /g/
I brought an Omega2 some time ago and its just been sitting around doing nothing.
Any ideas for projects with it?

do I really have to pay to recover my shit from a fucked up flash drive?

>>59880075
Well it makes sense. If you are dumb enough to store your information only on a flash drive, you might be dumb enough to pay for software claiming to recover it
>>
If you must ask that question you're probably a retard who also pays for antivirus

I will help you by saying a single name

Recuva

Do with it what you will
>>
>>59880075
Use Photorec. It's free and works for me. Only tried it on SSD and HDDs though, not sure about flash drives.

Theoretically, If I was to have a clone of a device with all identical software and hardware and had matching SIM cards inside, what would happen if I was to call myself?
Would the other phone ring or are phones/SIM card pre-programmed not to be able and will automatically send you to your voicemail box options?
Would the same thing happen with text messages? (My theory is that text messages would work but phone calls wouldn't, but I can't get concrete evidence to back up my claim.)

P.S. I am only talking about cellphones, not home phones.

your carrier says no
>>
That's why I'm saying theoretically. I know you can't, but I'm going with the "what if I somehow got a cloning machine?" kinda deal (also completely fictional, but you catch my drift)
>>
>>59880015
Each SIM has a unique ID so you cannot clone them.

I want a good ass video card so it won't feel oudated for at least 5 years. Is there some sale I should wait for? I can spend $2,000ish but I'd rather not spend all of it on a laptop the extra $1300 won't make a difference

/pcbg/: Post your component list; rate other anons'; ask questions in general.

State the PURPOSE of your PC & BUDGET. State COUNTRY if not USA.
List GAMES/SOFTWARE you use often. List resolution & hz if gaming.
Seeking build improvements? Clarify if goal is to lower price or improve specs.
Put effort into your queries to make yourself easy to help.

Currently worthwhile CPUs:
>G4560 for budget builds (<$500) unless G4620 is discounted over 25%
>i3, i5, and R7 aren't worthwhile for regular consumers. Get Ryzen 5, drop down to G4560, or up to i7
>No R5 1400 unless super cheap on sale
>i7-7700k is good but pricey. If over budget, consider 6700k and/or a locked motherboard + cheaper cooler; not chasing 4.8Ghz capable when you weren't gonna overclock - or get Ryzen 5
>R7/Xeon for compute/multitask/mixed use

Currently worthwhile GFX cards:
>RX470 8GB, RX480 8GB, 1070, 1080, 1080TI
>1060 is worth considering over a 480 if same/cheaper in your country, or you just play games, it's better on for the price. 1050Ti is for mITX builds
>Budget builds: consider integrated graphics over any card weaker than an RX470, unless another's price/performance is better (ie discounted/used)
>Vega comes in May

General:
>Don't feel bound to a specific brand/model. Parametric filters on pcpartpicker can help here
>Consider SSD only for what you budgeted on SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't worth it just for faster OS boot. They're primarily for quicker loading/saving of files for productivity
>Save money with mATX case/mobo, and if patient by purchasing your parts individually in flash sales

At least Windows auto backs up system files/signed drivers etc such for you, so when you install shitty products filled with malware infecting kernel32.dll Windows will revert to a previous working condition.

Ever seen that in Linux?

I've been looking to set up a fileserver for awhile, maybe double its purpose to play media to my TV, but I'm really not interested in dumping $300 to get the base system set up.
I feel like I should be able to get this done for maybe $120 or $150?
