Bought this used PC + monitor for 800 USD.
How did I do?
>>59953754
Could've spent at least $200 less
>>59953754
enjoy your shit station
>>59953833
No, coz the mouse and keyboard was included.
I bought myself a T420 today for £162 ($200), second hand.
The page said the laptop would have 8gb of ram, 256GB SSD, 900p screen and only has minor wear and tear.
I actually got the 8gb of ram and the 256SSD, I didn't get the 900p screen but instead the crappy 786p screen which pissed me off quite a lot.
Still, overall I was pretty happy until I looked at my Crystal Diskmark scores because the SSD has the speed of a fucking hard drive, just 100mb/s.
What the fuck is that.
I blame myself for it however since it did specify the brand of SSD which I didn't look up but for fuck's sake you expect some sort of high performance when you hear SSD. Fuck.
The laptop is scratched to fuck on the back and there's a small chip on the top left of the bezel.
The battery is poor, only lasting 45 minutes to an hour on medium brightness which has led me to order some chink battery from eBay as the official batteries would bring me over my budget.
Was it worth it /g/?
Personally, idk, the resolution is fucking cancer which inhibits me from having more than three windows up on the screen at the same time however the upgradability of the T420 will allow me to replace pretty much anything in the far future.
Don't buy a fucking Thinkpad they're horrible. You only have yourself to blame here. The /g/ autists that recommend them aren't grounded in reality. GG.

Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask but does anybody know anything about air conditioners?
I just bought a used window unit, and it blows warm air. After taking it apart, it seems like neither the evaporator or condenser coils get hot or cold. But I can hear the condenser start up about a minute after I set it to cool.
Is it just out of coolant? From what I can tell it seems like the condenser coil should freeze up if it needs coolant?
You can probably find a video on Youtube that would walk you through a window AC repair. From my limited knowledge on those things, they're pretty simple in how they operate, the hard part is detecting and plugging any holes that may have formed in the tubing or coils and charging it back up correctly (high and low pressures and shit).
>>59953694
Yeah I can't seem to find anything about what it means if the coils do nothing. There's a lot of info about if they ice up or drip too much but I have no idea what it means if they do nothing.
I guess maybe a leak somewhere.
>>59953694
There's a leak somewhere. Better get it to the guys who repair that sort of stuff right away, you'll need some pro equipment to refill it anyways. They also should have leak detector to locate the hole and everything to repair it.
The whole unit might be fucked though if it runs on one of those modern coolants with special oil that turns to literal acid upon exposure to moisture in the air and it's been sitting like that long enough, or you may have trouble finding the right coolant if it's too old (stuff like R22 has been banned ages ago and is only available in limited supply).

Alright /g/uys, found this phone on the street right outside my house.
There was a broken cake beside it, looks like someone deliberately threw the cake on the ground and then broke the phone in half.
I cleaned the dirt off the phone, plugged it into my computer and still works.
Can't see anything because the screens not attached and the ribbon cables torn.
I installed drivers for it.
I tried using a program called BitPim to get data off of it to no avali, any advice?
I'll post all the data I get off of this phone.

Is there a way to dual monitor with a laptop and if so how.
>plug in monitor
>change settings to extend display instead of duplicating it
Did you even try it yourself?
Yes anon. Diamond Multimedia. See screenshot. I used to run three displays on one laptop with an Intel integrated graphics chip no ussue

Na thx though
Is G-sync just a meme? Is it worth paying a big premium for refresh rate?
Yes. No.
Everything G-sync does, freesync does it with less input lag.
>>59953388
G-sync deals has a lower minimum framerate than what freesync has but if you are buying an expensive as fuck monitor, you're probably buying a video card that wouldn't even dip that low anyways.
>>59953388
And for free, because some people arent kikes.
Hi /g/,
First time posting on this board and I am not particularly tech savvy. I am looking for a good laptop within the $350-$450 price range. Nothing really heavy duty, Just cost efficient for the specs.
Thanks!

My backup hard drive crashed and I won't be able to afford a new one for a long time, so I want to upload an encrypted copy of my files on a cloud service for the meantime.
I'm already using MEGA, but I'm worried that it could get closed like Megaupload, so what's a good cloud storage service that you think is going to last a long time, and that won't delete my account for inactivity or for having multiple accounts?
Thanks in advance.
1TB is ~45 USD op
How big is your back up?
>>59953242
It was 1TB.
Now I have none. Just one copy of my files (and whatever is on MEGA).
I can't afford to buy another one because I'm dirt poor and my situation won't allow me to have a job for at least a year, and even if I found a job today, I'd still need a cloud solution until I can afford a new drive.
My impression is that cloud storage is some expensive shit.

>>59953131
Yes how much nsa had a hand in developing and how much botnet is in it. So avoid popular commercial distros for botnet, avoid Ubuntu and questionable debian for nsa and watch out for others that have huge security flaws
>>59953131
Difference in packaging as well, Fedora has RPM and Debian/Ubuntu has DEB.
Also I guess how their repos are set up, release cycles, LTS releases, length of support, philosophy.
There's a lot that can be different.

Set Windows 10's telemetry to Full, enabled cloud backup, put all my photos and docs in GDrive, enabled Cortana, search and position histories in Google and Microsoft accounts, removed uBlock Origin from Edge and Chrome, which by the way has cloud sync enabled for everything and without offline encryption.
Everything is backed up and I benefit from all cloud features, which is really practical.
Why do you have things to hide /g/ ?
i plugged myself in ur mom
nothing can be hid, but how slow is your machine/internet now?
>>59953060
Didn't notice a difference. What should make it slower ?
I'm actually gaining time with customized search results and cloud sync with my phone.
