Daily reminder that women were the first programmers.

Daily reminder they were just plugging in cables and punch cards on systems designed by men.

Holy kek, feminists are so worthless they get rekt on their first post, keeping this for future reference.
>>
>>59975795
I don't really see how that's rekt, what those women did was basically extreme low-level programming, they didn't have instruction mnemonics or even numerical machine code, basically they had to rewire the ROM one bit at a time. Sure, they had documentation to work off of, but that doesn't mean it was easy, most programmers today would struggle to write a FizzBuzz in assembly even with the Intel manuals in front of them. What they did was a critical skill in its own time, albeit one that is of limited use today that computers are now powerful enough to program themselves.

Absolute autistic samefagging

The problem with all of you is most likely you could be coming off angry, bitter, loud and coarse, instead of having a pleasant, calm manner. Your actions may very well be causing people to be scared of tech. People are afraid of doing the "wrong" things because you threaten them in an imitating manner. Most men in tech are abusive individuals and it's not surprising to see how these people are so desperate for forgiveness and panic when you throw a four letter initial down their throats. I come from experience myself (like everyone else not perfect, my channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCebCJcmL-LYboKgi4re0yVQ), but threatening people don't get you places. I am surprised that all of you are not in the slammer and not in court for this verbally abusive attitude. The way this entire board concurs also makes me concerned how you treat others. Please get help.

Why don't you invent something /g/?

Ayah Bdeir (born 1982 in Montreal, Quebec) is the founder and CEO of littleBits, an open source library of modular electronics that snap together with magnets.[1] Bdeir is considered one of the leaders of the Maker Movement[2] and Open Hardware Movement[3] and a proponent of an open Internet of Things.[4] She was named to Fast Company's list of "Most Creative People in Business" in 2013,[5] Entrepreneur magazine's 10 Up and Coming Leaders to Watch (2014),[6] and Popular Mechanics' 25 Makers Who are Reinventing the American Dream (2014).[7] Bdeir was named a 2010 Creative Commons fellow for her work in defining Open Hardware and for co-founding the Open Hardware Summits of 2010 and 2011.[8] She is an MIT Media Lab alum[8] and a TED Senior Fellow.[9]

Bdeir spearheaded the first Open Hardware Definition[25] that was adopted by CERN for its Open Hardware License.[26] As a fellow at Creative Commons, she led the public competition of the Open Hardware logo—now adopted on millions of circuit boards around the world. Bdeir has published academic papers and coined the term "Electronics As Material," which is the idea of "thinking of electronics as material that can be combined with other traditional ones."[27]

i live in a third world shithole, so my main objectives generally speaking are basically not getting stabbed when on the street, find something to eat (hopefully every day), have somewhere to sleep (hopefully family won't kick me to the curb anytime soon)

so as you see, even if i was the smarter bean in the can, i already lost the life lottery.

>I'm a single atheist white man, 55, reputedly intelligent, with unusual interests in politics, science, music and dance.

>I'd like to meet a woman with varied interests, curious about the world, comfortable expressing her likes and dislikes (I hate struggling to guess), delighting in her ability to fascinate a man and in being loved tenderly, who values joy, truth, beauty and justice more than "success"--so we can share bouts of intense, passionately kind awareness of each other, alternating with tolerant warmth while we're absorbed in other aspects of life.

>My 25-year-old child, the Free Software Movement, occupies most of my life, leaving no room for more children, but I still have room to love a sweetheart if she doesn't need to spend time with me every day. I spend a lot of my time traveling to give speeches, often to Europe, Asia and Latin America; it would be nice if you were free to travel with me some of the time.

Modern Windows everyone.

Did Microsoft ever consider that a reboot might be needed to be performed quickly or something? Why does Windows not ask my permission before doing this shit? I popped into my Windows system to get a music file and ended up having to wait 30+ minutes just to turn the computer off.

Windows 10 question.

I was setting up a laptop for my mom and noticed if you go to change something in default apps, you can't select a program you have installed. It only gives you what windows has installed by default and "install something else through the store."

Any idea when that happened? I remember being able to navigate to an installed program when I set my laptop up a year or so ago.

Does HEVC look weird to anyone else? It's like the spatial depth of the background is compressed. It looks crisper and there are less artifacts than h.264, but it just seems so...flat, as if everything is taking place on the same plane. It feels lifeless or kind of like a moving comic book when I watch it.

Wow, H.264 nostalgia, never thought I'd see it.

Why not use the same nebulous bullshit terms used for albums? Say the H.264 video sounds warmer.

Dunno. I'd need to see some examples.
>>
>>59975188
I understand your point but generally that stuff is only regarded as snake oil when it's applied to lossless formats

that type of description is totally valid for comparing lossy formats, which is exactly what h.264 and h.265 are
