For instance COBOL.

Ruby
Its used in financial bullshit and no one is learning it and the old timers are dying and the banks are refusing to switch.
>>60011676
I thought that was COBOL?
>>60011722
>>60011632
COBOL is widely used in finances still. I work at a bank and we have bunch of legacy COBOL stuff that we're actively trying to replace.
why do all consumer routers default to a class C IP?
why dont they use 10.0.0.0 with a mask of 255.255.255.0 which does the exact same thing but the numbers are more straight forward for novice users?
>>60011602
I had a consumer router that did exactly that.
>>60011743
i know what im doing so i already changed it on my router but i dont know why its not a widely adopted standard.
>>60011602
'novice' users dont fuck with ip addresses

>Devuan GNU+Linux is a Linux distribution forked from Debian in 2015. The project's primary goal is to provide a variant of Debian without the complexities and dependencies of systemd, an init system and services manager originally developed by Red Hat and later adopted by most other Linux distributions. Devuan's initial beta release was made available in April 2016, together with an upgrade path from Debian 7.0 "Wheezy" and a possibility to switch to Devuan from Debian 8.0 "Jessie". The distribution adopted Xfce as its default desktop.

I don't get it, what's the problem?
>>60011422
no one cares. fuck off. go suck lennart's dick.
I just installed it. Wow, what beauty. I also love the nigger name.
>This Devuan 'Jessie' release candidate is as close as we can get to a 'long term support' universal base distribution free from systemd, in the original spirit of Debian. The final Devuan 'Jessie' release will follow shortly and then we will turn our attention to 'Ascii', the current testing branch. What has improved in Devuan 'Jessie': the WiFi auto-detection problems present in the beta release series have been fixed; the problem that prevented Samba from installing has been fixed; Devuan now directly provides different base distribution flavours - desktop live, embedded, minimal live and installer ISO; Devuan's Simple Distro Kit (SDK) is rapidly approaching maturity, with a full set of scripts and documentation to roll your own Devuan-based distro in any flavor....

What's a good budget Android TV box for watching Youtube/Netflix/Web Videos/Videos off my USB external drive, maybe some light web browsing too.
I imagine I don't need a powerful processor for this so the Nvidia Shield would probably be overkill, and I see a lot of dirt cheap android boxes and I'm not sure if they're shit. What's a good Android TV box in the $50 range for my purposes?
I would honestly get a tablet but the ethernet port + usb ports on android boxes are a very nice touch and I dont see those on many android tablets

Why does it have to be android?
The one you posted looks pretty good
How do you save chat logs in Discord channels?
There should be a script for this type of shit. Even Mumble, Skype and TS3 lets you do it.
The server saves it for you
Forever
why?
If chat history is important, discord isnt the place to chat, dumbass.

I've never been so jealous of my own application...
Meant to be invoked from systemd sysv cron
Out of scope

>end up sleeping 10x longer than intended
>has to wake up at some point
Not so jealous.
It's crunch-time to pick a major.
It's either electrical engineering or computer engineering.
Which one do I do? Advise me, anons.
Do data science you bloke.
300k starting and never look back.
Do you see yourself programming in your future?
If so it doesn't matter since with both you will probably end up getting some programming job.
Also fuck off, how should we advise you, if we know nothing about you?
Also you will most likely drop out anyway.
you'll be taking pretty much the same courses for the first 1-2 years, and should be able to decide from there
n, e, c is given how do I find d?

You don't. That's the point.
Okay /g/, so if I wanna learn to code, in your opinion, what is the one language I should learn immediately?
pic was screenshotted with a blue light filter on so obviously its red
>>60010957
If you're starting off, learn C. Try beej's guide to C to start with.
Learn C and you can learn anything
learn Java first, it has similarities to c like languages with the appropriate hand holding for a first time language.
then move to python or c or any language you find interesting or relevant to what you like to do
>>60010957
If your screen filter affects file contents, I think there may be something wrong.
That said, it is kind of neat.
Can we have an Ebay stories thread?
I'll start
>Need a usb hub
>open ebay
>find 99 cent usb hub from china
>impulse buy
>arrives
>connect to pc
>connect multiple devices to it
> it doesn't work
>leave it a bad review and go to bed
cont.
2
>open Ebay
>see new message
>pic related
>seller notices my bad review
>seller wants to negotiate
>by providing a sob story
>\>he will lose his job
>make a reply
>tell the seller to send me a new one, but my negative feedback would remain until I get a working product.
cont.
3
>next day
>check ebay
>new message
>pic related
>seller responds to my reply
>seller cannot meet my demands
>elaborates more on his sob story
>\>just graduated from uni
>\>working over time
>\>hardship
I still haven't responded. I really don't care about the dollar I wasted but im getting a chuckle out of this.
