Today I learned that firewalld will silently fail when you run docker, because of NetworkManager and dbus cancer
What are some good alternatives for firewalld and NetworkManager? running CentOS and ufw and shorewall are in the repos

What are some specs I should look for in shopping for TVs in 2017? Are OLEDs worth it?
Is there any TV designed where the pixels actually shut off or dim during dark scenes? With my current old LCD TV, if you put a solid black background on display, it's backlit and looks shitty and gray. There's gotta be a TV out there that actually turns off the individual pixels if a solid black color is displayed, right?
That's exactly the point of OLED.
>>60035642
Alright, I thought that might be the case. Are there any other technologies along with OLED I should look for? I'm probably just going to go with a Samsung because I've always liked their picture quality over the years.
Also, I heard there's a new technology called QLED thats supposed to be better than OLED....the TVs seem to be very expensive though.
I want to buy a 486 MSDOS machine, but the prices on ebay are ridiculous.
Do the chinese make cheap knock off products or something? Only requirements are that it runs MSDOS 6.2, can play all of my favourite early 90's games, and has a floppy drive.
Yes I know I'm a fag.
Well, your best bet is using dosbox.
Or

DosBox is a pain in the ass though. It has no fullscreen and it just wipes my progress when I close it.

Set permissions properly or point it to your user folder, dumbass.
What kind of features do flagship phones have that are worth spending over $700 instead of $200-300 for a mid-range phone?
Genuinely curious here.

Discuss watches and tech.
Should I justify a Blancpain because I cant drive a car or buy one until they are self-driving?

Id like this one more with a slightly bigger bezel. Just a few mm and my eyeballs would like it more. And is there no lume at the very end of those hands?
This is a bully free thread, feel free to ask about fashion watches.
Much better than the other thread.

>Travis Kalanick, the chief executive of Uber, visited Apple’s headquarters in early 2015 to meet with Timothy D. Cook, who runs the iPhone maker. It was a session that Mr. Kalanick was dreading.
>For months, Mr. Kalanick had pulled a fast one on Apple by directing his employees to help camouflage the ride-hailing app from Apple’s engineers. The reason? So Apple would not find out that Uber had secretly been tracking iPhones even after its app had been deleted from the devices, violating Apple’s privacy guidelines.
>But Apple was on to the deception, and when Mr. Kalanick arrived at the midafternoon meeting sporting his favorite pair of bright red sneakers and hot-pink socks, Mr. Cook was prepared. “So, I’ve heard you’ve been breaking some of our rules,” Mr. Cook said in his calm, Southern tone. Stop the trickery, Mr. Cook then demanded, or Uber’s app would be kicked out of Apple’s App Store.
>For Mr. Kalanick, the moment was fraught with tension. If Uber’s app was yanked from the App Store, it would lose access to millions of iPhone customers — essentially destroying the ride-hailing company’s business. So Mr. Kalanick acceded.
Fuck Uber and fuck the scumbag Travis Kalanick.

Would it be possible to create a submarine, or some other structure, that could submerge in a liquid metal?
It would be extremely painful.
>>60034444
I meant to post this on /sci/, but it kind here as well I guess
Theoretically, yes.
In terms of current material technologies, it would likely be impractically small. Liquid metals that we can play with are already very dense. The more liquid you displace (as you'd need to with a large hollow-bodied vessel), the greater the force acting upon the hull. Resisting that much force becomes a bitch since surface area increases as the square of radius for something like a sub.
