Currently worthwhile CPUs:
>G4560 for budget builds (<$500) unless G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>i3 are only worthwhile for dwarf fortress & single-purpose emulator boxes
>i5 aren't worthwhile. Get Ryzen 5, drop down to G4560, or up to R7/i7
>R5 1400 is not worthwhile unless discounted
>delidded i7-7700k is good but pricey. If over budget, an R5 is probably as good or better for you
>R7/Xeon for compute/multitask/mixed use

Currently worthwhile GFX cards:
>RX570, RX480(if cheap & not blower), RX580, 1070, 1080, 1080TI
>RX550/RX560 is worth considering if you just need 6 monitor support for cheap or play low end shit
>1060 is worth considering if same/cheaper in your country and you don't care about Freesync, or already have GSync. 1050Ti is for mITX builds
>RX570 is usually all you need for 1080p@60hz.

Why the fuck is removing a desktop environment from literally any Linux distro so fucking annoying? I should not need to reinstall the entire OS just to clear a desktop environment from the system, no matter what package manager you use, it is never just as simple as "remove gnome" or whatever there is always some lingering mass of related packages that will not be removed without explicitly removing them one-by-one.

I just want to be able to install and uninstall desktop environments as easily as other software packages, why is this so difficult?
30 posts and 3 images submitted.
>>
>>60088093
because some random application on your system that didn't come with the DE itself requires some library that needs a different library to work that pulls in half of the desktop as a dependency.
>>
I use macOS and this is literally not a problem in my life
>>
>>60088208
I tested this in a VM, I installed minimal Ubuntu with no desktop environment or anything, then I installed MATE, then I uninstalled MATE and autoremoved deps and MATE still somehow remained totally functional and nearly totally intact. It doesn't make sense that even on a fucking blank slate you can't just install and uninstall a desktop environment like any other package "apt-get install x" and "apt-get remove --purge x" and "apt-get autoremove", there is ALWAYS something left over no matter the dependencies.

They aren't even for really serious gaming. It's just generally fun to do things in VR - because it's fascinating that it's artificial, and because it can do new things with interactive entertainment.

The only remotely useful thing I've been able to do is sketch onto .obj files imported to tiltbrush. It MIGHT get better when there's an actual CAD program for VR.

So, guys, today I learnt about BIN (Bank Identification Number) hacks on services like Spotify, Netflix, etc.

The info is easily available out there (especially on YT).

For example, this video shows how to have a 1-month subscription on Netflix by using Paypal along with a BIN hack.

cBGncN70ZYk

What it makes you do is this:

>Download BIN info. You'll have a file like this (https://pastebin.com/raw/9vzTj4S6) for Netflix or like this (https://pastebin.com/raw/R2KFfz9Z) for Spotify.
>Create a VPN connection tied to a specific country
>Go to https://cc.namsopro.com/ and generate CC details by using the BIN info contained in the downloaded file
>Create a Paypal account using the info contained in the BIN file (Address, City, State, Postal Code, Telephone, location-based IP address to use) and the generated credit card info from that website.
>Now that you have a Paypal account, proceed to create a Netflix account.
>Choose your Netflix plan and pay with Paypal.
>Done. You now have your Netflix Premium account with the plan you chose.

Now, I'd like to understand how it works under the hood. :)

What I can't understand is:

>What's the purpose of this site https://cc.namsopro.com/? If you put, for example, the details of a specific credit card you can see (http://imgur.com/a/OwzWP) it gives you a lot of CCVs. Which one is correct? If more than one are correct, how does this relate with a real credit card usage scenario?

>Where do they get the name and full address? Do they matter?

>When you use that a generated card details, is the money actually withdrawn from that card or not? (also, see the first point: from which card?

>Isn't the BIN supposed to be six digits long?

What is labeled a "checksum" is probably a self-check number. Self-check numbers are less computationally heavy and can be done mentally.
>>
>>60088052
So it's all based on checksum?

Where do Spotify and Netflix get the money from, then? Don't they withdraw the money first and then validate the sub?
>>
>>60087626
>let's commit CC fraud, a serious crime punishable with jail time, to get something you could easily get with bit torrents while only committing a misdemeanor at most and probably only a non-punishable offense.
