Convince me not to buy this /g/.
I already have a decent desktop (i5 + RX480), but I don't have a laptop.
I want something light with good build quality. I'm too poor for a Mac, and I hate windows.
I can get a brand new Chromebook pixel for $320 with the following:
I5
4GB RAM
64GB of flash
2560x1700 touchscreen
Good speakers
Good touchpad
Supposedly it is the fastest normiebook laptop
Now the following bothers me:
-Drivers may not be available for Windows and Linux for touchpad/keyboard (can't verify).
-It's not receiving Android apps, but I don't know what I'd use that for.
-Its a 2013 model laptop
-I'm afraid there is something I'm not thinking about
Am I stupid for wanting to drop $300 on this? It's only $100 more than a typical Chromebook, and I don't have to deal with a shitty 1280x800 screen with a Celeron.

It runs ChromeOS, so it's marginally more useful than a clod of dirt.
>>60108363
Discord, Spotify, and Office all have proper web apps.
I'm trying to figure out what I won't be able to do on it over a normal laptop other than retro gaming (which could still be possible if there are drivers for it with crouton).
Can you think of something major that doesn't run on chrome?
>>60108347
unless you just want to shitpost, you will fucking hate/love the thing because it's beautiful but you need to install linux because ChromeOS is just ShitpostOS.
This coming from a guy that bought one just to fuck around and uses it every other day to browse the web and annoy people here.
Are Macintosh Classics worth anything yet?
about 3.50
go to UW and i bet you can sell that thing for ~$1000 to some dumb white hipster
>>60108312
Check the Ebay Floating Standard Price...e.g. see what people are buying them and selling them on ebay for, and take an average, removing obvious outliers and taking into account the condition of your model.
can't believe i was tricked into using this piece of shit distro. please kill you'reself if you recommend this shit to others.
>Manjaro
>any year
It's your own fault.
>>60108125
It's the best distro, you're just retarded and didn't read the manual.
>>60108125
what happened?
can someone tell me why firefox and it's variants are so popular on /g/?
>slower than chrome even with tweaking
>may use less ram but gets heavy on cpu usage
>needs addons to be usable (ie: doesn't play twitter videos)
firefox just seems like something you have around to rice or if you're concerned about privacy.
how do you lads improve firefox?
don't post OP images more interesting than your topic
its the best no botnet browser we have
>>60107990
>needs addons to be usable (ie: doesn't play twitter videos)
Works on my machine(tm)
Are steam hardware surveys lying to us about gpu market share?
>>60107884

yes, but quarterly financial reports don't.
>>60107884
WCCFtech is the place where retarded people who follow tech go, it has the perfect blend of people who know enough about tech to know AMD GPUs but don't have enough money to afford nvidia.
Seriously, HOW FUCKING HARD IS TO OPTIMIZE MEMORY USAGE? Why is this allowed? Chrome and Firefox are almost as bad too.
What are you poor?
just upgrade your computer :^)

When ever single page plus addons are basically ran in there own sandbox along with the browser binary it adds up
Vivaldi doesn't have this problem

HDR, at least 4K and UW can be used without special and rare content. HDR content doesn't and won't exist, and there's no effective way to "upscale" color depth like resolution
Are there are cloud IDEs that aren't slow ass garbage? How does /g/ work on their projects if you move around a lot?
I use pen and paper.
There's absolutely no reason why you should be using anything more than nano, make and maybe some shell scripts for quality of life improvements, like opening files at a specific line.
>>60107557
You use git and a laptop with a data connection
please stop this everything in the cloud meme before it is too late.
Why did nobody ever bother to make a better PMP? Why is my best option for a standalone player *still* a refurb from 8 years ago?
Because that's good enough.
wait until the UMPC fad finally dies and we will circle back to music players.
>>60107451
Don't get be wrong here, I love mine. I just don't understand, it's not even like people don't still make PMPs. How are they *all* worse than the Clip+?
>Linux kids will defend this
>>60107435
Yes, it is an educational tool for kids
You forgot the classic

What are you working on, /g/?
First for C.
Pycharm is bloated for the same serious Norton or McAfee is bloated. They are filled with shit so they can sell it to you.
Third for marbles, slides, strings, levers, weights, and whacky household items.
I tried logging into 4chan earlier today, but it kept redirecting into OpenDNS stating that "this domain is blocked.". I was using Google's public DNS.
But when I switched my DNS address to UncensoredDNS's, I can browse 4chan again. Then I switched to Google's again to see if it still blocks it; but I got through to this site anyway somehow. Can anyone explain what just happened?
Anyway, what are some /g/ approved DNS addresses?
It was like pic related, I forgot to take a screencap.
I was freely shitposting last night before sleeping, but when I woke up this shit suddenly happened.

Move somewhere where you control your Internet? Set up a VPN in AWS?
>>60107375
Everything is working fine now. I'm just looking for an explanation behind what just happened.
>minor bugs & fixes

>>60107258
Don't mobile apps need to package in all dependencies compared to traditional desktop apps? This may explain it.
installed and uninstalled gnome (all the normal packages and their deps) to demonstrate something
was 159 packages, ~700MiB installed size total, and took 28 seconds to install the whole lot onto an old 500GB hdd
what the purpose of an open case if all it does is put dust on your shits?
To show off your autism at a level that clear side panel just can't show.
When you get to an open case, just keep everything on a test bench.
In theory, sikk liquid cooled shit

I know Raven Ridge will probably give something faster than this, and on graphics it will probably (and hopefully) destroy Intel HD and even Iris, but holy fuck, how late can AMD get?
Reminder: It's a quad-core CPU with 8 threads

Ryzen will finally bring a reason to have a laptop with an AMD CPU, their APUs better be good or they will lose the laptop marking.
It wouldn't make a lot of sense to put non-APU Ryzen chips in a laptop.
