Does /g/ hate ubuntu solely because of unity? I can never find out why no one here likes it because all I get is
>lol ubuntu
>lol ubuntu in CURRENT YEAR
I also don't understand why people run different OS's when all desktop environments are available on ubuntu.
Aside from my questions, I would like to see discussion on the pro's and cons of different OS's (Debian stuff, arch stuff, etc) and desktop environment discussion (which is the easiest to customize, what do you want out of your desktop environment?)
Sorry if non of this makes sense, Im a linux noob and I just want to gain a better understanding.

Ubuntu is excellent for everyday using it's just /g/ trolling don't worry.
Ancient packages and if you want anything newer you either have to "make install"/pip/gem/npm it or fight apt for hours
>>60155463
no, they hate it because it made linux bearable for normies.
>gf is about to go back to college
>she wants to know a laptop that she can use for school thats not shit
>tfw can't think of one
Why are laptops so shit, /g/?

I can't stand letting my users download megabytes of javascript and then spend 10 seconds before they see anything on the page.
>>60155264
>having a 50kB site only be functional with 3MB of JS
no thx
Normies that don't even own a computer
How the fuck is that even possible?
A computer is a tool. You dont need one to live. If anything its better to not have onem try to go offline for more than a week ans you will appreciate things.
>>60155117
All they do is take shitty pictures of themselves to post on Snapchat and Instagram, things that they don't need a computer for
More and more a desktop are becoming something just for work or gaming

Is there any way I can develop autism, at least temporarily, so I can finish this homework assignment?
Scheme / Racket actually made some sense, Java 8 on the other hand is just completely intractable to me
>>60154826
seems like you already have autism lad
>>60154847
I doubt it -- I can't even understand what it means to spliterate the abstract pipeline before i wrap and copy into the sequential reduction lambda collector.

600mg vyvanse should do the trick, can't die from it either
Hey g.
I don't just want to avoid the government spying on me, I want to stop all government spying.
How do I do it? Do I an hero with a message? What do I do?
The government spies on us all everyday and violates our constitutional right to privacy.

People always act like someone is sitting in a dark room somewhere looking at your browsing history every night.
More like it's all sitting on a server somewhere.
>>60154999
Doesn't matter. That's still unconstitutional. The raw collection of data of us citizens without a warrant or consent is unconstitutional. Whether they view the data after they collect it is irrelevant.

This is from a fucking bank. A fucking bank, man. This should be illegal.
This is why a thing anyway?
Database limits?
Google, Apple, and Microsoft all make laptops with non 16:9 screens. Clearly they're being made so why is LITERALLY NO ONE ELSE using them?

The alternative is doing literally nothing with that space though.
What is your white whale, /g/? What piece of technology/hardware do you want to have more than anything, but you can't, because it's either too expensive, rare, or impractical?
Pic related for me. I rarely see them on sale, and when they are, it's absolutely absurd.
A dual X79 or X99 build.
BVM-D32E1WU and BVM-D20F1U and GDM-FW900.
Just want a collection of really good CRTs for older 4:3 240p/480p content that really just doesn't age well on modern screens.

I have this EVGA power supply that I grabbed off Amazon a few days ago for a "SILENT PC BUILD" and after mild browsing and some youtube the psu fan fucking ramps up to 100% and stays that way until reboot no matter if ECO mode is on or off. Did an exchange off Amazon, did the same thing too.
Nigger Jews at EVGA thought that 100% psu fan until I shut off everything is a "feature". What do I do /g/?

Request an RMA. If not go complain on reddit at /r/teamevga the reps can't stand bad PR
>buying an 850 watt PSU when modern CPUs and GPUs are so efficient that a 550W PSU can run an i7 + GTX 1080
>>60154127
I already did a full exchange on Amazon. The second one was exactly the same issue as the first one. It made me double check to see if I actually put the bad one in the box.

I have an OCed 6700k and on OCed R9 390X. I was going to get the 750W but I had the option to spend like 5 bucks more for the 850W.
Just bought this computer. Is it a bad decision for someone who's not looking to build?
Bought it based on this dudes review and the shit ton of reviews.
Just looking to play a couple Mmorpgs.
Yes I know building is cheaper but I don't care.

Actually not the worst build for the price, considering it's a prebuilt
Waste of fucking money. Building a PC is fucking simple! Literally legos, even a retard could do it. But whatever, it's your money OP.
