Does anyone know what video this port is?
parallel and serial you fucking retarded /v/irgin
1. your picture is shitty
2. there's 3 connectors in your picture
But still, looks like two serial & one parallel port to me.
>>60224215
>Does anyone know what video this port is?
Which one? The ones of the left look like VGA ports, the right looks like an old printer port.
How do I share large files (150mb) with a self-destructing download link? is there even a way? I've found sites offering that service for small files but none for larger ones.
Stop trying to find a way to distribute your cp faggot
>>60224265
god damnit that's not it at all. ignore the picture (girl is legal btw).
>>60224400
yeah sure
How'd I do /g/?
Ivy Bridge i5 3427U
4GB DDR3
32GB Flash
2560x1700 3:2 IPS touchscreen
$230
Gonna keep ChromeOS on it, and use crouton for native programs Spotify and Discord.
Do NOT keep chromeOS
>>60223710
If you're gonna use this, I suggest you put a proper distro
Install GalliumOS OP
It is basically a Linux distro optimized for Chromebooks. It will feel like Chrome OS but you can do more stuff.
New computer coming and it has windows 10 pro, what is better windows 7 ultimate or Windows 10 pro?
Just wondering if windows 10 is still ass or not, there has to be at least a couple positives by now right?
Are we taking into account software support and updates? Because you'd just be on a sinking ship if you were still using 7. I don't think it even supports DX12. It certainly doesn't support the newer Nvidia drivers.
7 is good don't get me wrong, but 10 is good too and will be supported for a long time. Consciously rebelling by picking 7 is just a stupid move.
>>60223708
format and install gentoo
no but seriously, just get ltsb for a non shit w10, or go back to 7
Windows 7 clearly better. Windows 10 is a total joke. Hands and weird annoying bullshit to deal with it's much less efficient than Windows 7 ever was no I just keep updating Windows 7 its design was optimal had very few problems that anybody can think of. Windows 10 is a fucking joke in comparison to Windows 7 period it's a total consumer bullshit operating system period Windows 7 was better in every way

Hey guys, you all know about computers, could you help me use the flower react on facebook? This guy did just today but I thought it was only valentines day, do I need to download a program to do it or something? I'm on Windows 10 if that matters.
>>60223516
/g/ is not your tech support, Reddit scum.
>>60223524
This is more of a "hack"-ing question though because I want to hack the react to make a flower picture, not really tech support
install ubuntu

Tell me /g/, do they actually run GNU/Linux any better than other laptops?
>>60223253
Get a purism instead since they are the only modern hardware that supports coreboot other than chromebooks.
>>60223279
So does coreboot have any benefits other than security and boot time?
>>60223848
Also, freedom. It is free software, as opposed to proprietary vendor BIOS/UEFI. Given, often closed firmware is required.
Hi guys.
There's a political scandal about some recorded audio of minister of finaces in the Czech Republic and it got me thinking, how to check whether the audio was edited (tempered with) or not?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rAKJRzac2T0
>>60223018
why not just make it illegal then their not allowed to tamper with audio?
>>60223063
Well it's illegal, but some anonymous account released this audio, and I can't seem to find which reporter released it, so it seemed very weird to me.
Right now police is investigating, but I wonder, whether there's a home method how to find out, whether an audio was edited or not.
>>60223088
Maybe /mu/ could help. Or /wsr/. This is a consumerism board.
Can we rethink our shared library linking paradigm, specifically with regards to GNU/Linux, for a second?
As far as I can tell we have 2 choices:
1) Our current system which allows software to share common code reducing disk space and allowing that software to use upgraded libraries without having to be recompiled.
---
downsides: Although on paper it's foolproof, in practice it leads to our environments being fairly delicate, distro maintainers having to re-invent the wheel all the time (the REAL reason you can't install shit from one distro on another has nothing to do with package manager, it's that that piece of software was tediously trimmed to work on a particular setup and not on any other), and the inability to install multiple versions of most software without using "prefixes" or other containers.
OR
2) No linking. Software is rock solid and can be run and compiled on just about any environment.
---
downsides: Small bug fixes always require a complete recompile (when that fix is in a piece of common code used redundantly in 100's of programs on your machine, and when similar fixes come out routinely every few days it can be quite tedious), this method also requires more disk space
Are these really the only 2 choices? With all the intelligent people that have contributed to our software development over the years we really can't come up with anything better?
I mean, I can pull an alternative out of my ass right now. Why not add an additional layer of symlinks whereby each program links to its own personal symlinks instead of ones shared by the entire system. By default those personal links can just point to the system-wide libraries as usual, however in the case that something breaks you can just force those personal links to point to _exact_ versions of what it requires and then you're _guaranteed_ to always get running software.
This can be handled automatically by the package manager.
Why is nobody trying to solve this sort of thing anymore?
>>60223015
>Why is nobody trying to solve this sort of thing anymore?
Flatpak does
>>60224118
You mean Appimage
>>60224145
Appimage doesn't link to shared libraries, its basically op’s number 2 solution.
With flatpak, developer can choose between libraries packed on framework or use its own

Does anyone else feel like the governments have ruined the internet. I remember in like 2005 the internet was a lot of fun but now it feels lame. There is an account for everything and the government spies on you and there are noobs everywhere.
I've come up with a proposed name for the project:
SPONKNET
Supreme
Proxy
Obfuscated
Net
Kentledge
NETWORK
I really think we should just build an 'internet2' so to speak. We could start an indiegogo campaign to buy a couple of servers to start and use a tor-like technology to allow users to dial into sponknet until we get the resources to build infrastructure.
It would be relatively easy to write a python script to scrape internet 1.0 on a second server for pages on a daily basis statically - If there are dynamic elements we could just redirect users to the 1.0 site with a warning that the government might be watching.
Thoughts?
If there is interest I think I can try to spin up a Git Hub repository for some coding
wat
maybe scraping the internet once a day is too much... once a week?
I'll get started on the logo
Hey Anon, I'm bored. Throw some programming project ideas at me. Here is one I thought of when pondering just now:
AUTOMATED /pol/ TROLL DICTIONARY
-----------------------------------------------------------
1) Manually browse /pol/ to find posts that trigger the board
2) Scrape /pol/ using the manualy discovered phrases/words as analytical data and use post correlation to determine the most triggering words/phrases, through relations to the base data
3) Silently spread the discovered info on /pol/'s least favorite websites
4) ????
5) profit
What else you got, Anon?
Graphics library that writes different shapes to the framebuffer (lines squares, 3d boxes, so on)

why?
>>60222681
you can have some fun doing certain math / programming tricks to make the operations much faster
