I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
First for Chocola.

Any good wallets with popout cards?
what did Intel mean by this? Why does it exist?
>>60245708
EPIC was supposed to save us. We were all to be gods .. damn you AMD and your x86-64!
>>60245708
>Why does it exist?
You mean why DID it exist. The simple answer is that Intel saw a need for a new workstation/server architecture but that need was subsequently better filled by x86_64.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
New to /tpg/ or looking for purchasing advice? (hint: use the advice request template, it makes life easier)

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable

so did you get your laptop back?
>tfw no x270 with i7-7Y75 yet
will it ever be a thing ?
only shit I'd buy tight now and I need a new laptop
>>60245690
Don't forget:
If you want to hardmod, X230/T430 is objectively better.
If you like the new style but want to keep the trackpad and can swap it out, T440p is objectively better, T440 is better for dual core.
X240 is kinda shit unless you really want more battery.
Prove to me that you need 16gb of RAM
I don't
no one does

Is there a way to view anything and everything that is sent via WiFi? For instance, the picture on this topic? Could I go into my router and it has a source of where it originated and where it was sent and what it is?
>>60245548
You can sniff packets.
If it's sent using a plaintext protocol like HTTP, then you should be able to reassamble the file that was sent, who sent it, and where it was sent to.
>>60245571
Want to be a hero without a cape?
>>60245548
No anon. That is not possible. Scientists still wonder how Wifi works. It is seen as a "god transmission" that works without knowing how.
Fucking hell, how the fuck do you think your computer would know what to show you when you do any network request over a wifi connection. I swear this board is getting dumber by the second.

What modded game needs 24gb of ram?
I'll start with touchscreen laptops, especially when they aren't even stupid 2-in-1s. Also 15 inch 2-in-1s, who thought that would be a good idea?
It wasn't necessary but it reeled in money and that's all that matters.
>>60245178
It seems dumb till you have it, you'll find yourself using it here and there and will end up missing it when you use someone's non-touchscreen computer.
>>60245761
Oh, I have a convertible tablet with a keyboard, and it's pretty useful, I just haven't seen a design for a full laptop that looks comfortable to use, between all the different hinge designs

I sure hope you do not use cloud services to store your shit, anon.
I always tell people cloud storage is the dumbest shit ever invented and should never be used but nobody listens.
Why limit it to the cloud, when Windows 10 can also analyze your local files? :^)
Deleted the shit I had remaining on my OneDrive
Fuck them
OK, this is how things are going.
When I enter into IRC, some people whom I suspect they are real hackers know everything about my location, the pages I visit and my Internet activity (the things I download, etc). I can GUARANTEE that the only thing I do is entering into the server where IRC channels are.
These are my theories so-far:
1st) When entering into those servers, one is literally entering into a monitored PC which makes a registry of the PCs who enter and the date time when they did; the entrance to those servers is hacked with some man-in-the-middle software to monitoriing all the activity; this MitM was installed by any of these people.
2nd) When I enter there, this people just open a conversation chat by saying something like "Hi!", or "Hello"; once the message has been sent, they can -with any software I don't know- scan the IP of the destination server (my PC in this case) and thus, port scanning and geolocating the IP; once this has been done, they can connect both PCs with a RAT program and finally, remote viewing all my activity.
>Inb4 you're paranoid / you told them your data first
If you're about to say this, please do me a favor and literally rot in Hell forever. I already told that I DIDN'T SAY ANYTHING, AND IT'S VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE GUESSING AND MATCHING VARIOUS IPS COMPLETELY SEPARATED IN TIME RELATED TO USERS THAT TOLD NOTHING TO ANYONE.
>>60245075
>know everything
How do you know that?
>>60245101
They guessed my exact location without saying it; they literally counted all the webpages I was visiting at the moment and days before.
Fuck, they even told me the anime I was watching.
If you still believe this is pure casualty and coincidence, I truly believe this is not /g/ but a pure sack of bollocks.
>>60245149
What OS are you using?
Who can't wait for the 16 and 32 core Zen chips? Intel's 20 core (10 per CPU) dual Xeons aren't that far ahead in a benchmark that scales into the hundreds of cores.
what pc workloads will actually use more than ~8 threads? like 0.1%?
>tfw no 256 core cpu to go along with my 16gib of rams
its not fair bros
>>60244949
VMs, with a 20+ core I can serve a fully functional desktop to 5-10 people with varying performance profiles from one computer.
Not to mention all the stuff that could be hosted.
>i7-7700k heats up without even overclocking
