Is there any freelance work site that doesn't make it impossibly hard to get a job if you've never had one before?
Like, I just checked out Upwork, and only after I created an account did it let me see that it charged me to make job proposals and every job posting expected you to have done work on the site before, even "entry level" jobs.

Apparently Android for most people.

I'd suggest Linux. It's a relatively safe bet in many ways.

If you want to play games, have another Windows machine.

I'd just like to interject for moment. What you're referring to as shit/linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called Linux, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called Linux distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux!

So today is the day I finally make the switch to Linux, but the problem is I don't know what Linux distro to go with. I'm looking for a semi user-friendly(I'm willing to have to learn) distro that would be good for school work but also occasional coding practice aswell. Should I just settle with Ubuntu or do you think I should try something else? Also I kind of want to rice my desktop so maybe something with a slim ui kind of like the Apple OS X?

>gets stuck on login screen after it's done
>safe mode, startup repair, all fail to fix it
>have to roll back to previous version
>currently waiting for that to work, fingers crossed it doesn't fuck everything up as well

god fucking damn it, i knew this would happen but still, they're so damn incompetent these days. i've had this happen on LITERALLY every major update since W10 released. I even had to fully wipe and reinstall after 1607 because it fucked up the previous installation somehow.

fucking incompetent lazy ass pajeets
>inb4 install gentoo
i need a bunch of autodesk and adobe software for work, they don't run at all well in wine, otherwise I probably would make the switch to linux once and for all

is there a way to just permanently disable all updates other than security ones in W10 Pro? I know the enterprise ones can but maybe there's a third party utility or something for other versions?

Since mp3's are out of licensing and now a legacy codec, should the opus codec take over? A 128kb/s .opus song literally sounds exactly the same as a 320kb/s mp3. It also has the same frequency response in a spectrum analyzer.

It is open source and takes up less HD space/bandwidth. I see nothing wrong with adopting this format.

What do you think /g/ ?

Yes. Opus is the best technically. Opus respects your freedoms. Opus already has very widespread support.
Use it.
