I would like to buy myselft new home pc it would be used for some documents , movies , browsing etc just regulae stuff without gaming and hard tasks
I3 6100
Gygabyte ga-h110m-s2
samsung evo 850 120 gb
Powersupply 500 w bronze
4gb of ram
any suggestion how i could improve or it or it is fine as it is
Get a 1TB HDD instead of the SSD
>>60461804
I wont use much of these 120 gb eather but i need pc to be responsive , hdd-s usually are just slow for me . Thath is why iam taking ssd
>>60461804
Bad advice. I would rather say: upgrade to a 256gb, the price difference is very small. Also: get 8gb ram. 50% better computer for 20% extra cost.
What does /g/ think of this guy ?

Who?

Nerdgasm
Windows user, so just kind of uninteresting to me. Some of my more normie friends watch him, I think.
What is your opinion of humanity merging with machines?

this
What is interesting though is how we do it.
I think free software is crucial if it will be a positive thing or be a new dark age.
>>60461740
Free software will never catch on. Less than 0.1% of the world's population even knows the difference between free as in freedom and free as in price. Once we merge with computers we'll be complete slaves to the ZOGs/shadow government/whoever you think is in control.
Does anyone have experience with home NAS boxes like Synology?
I'm trying to set up a foolproof network drive/media server and there are too many fucking options.
Size and noise matter so I'd rather pay for an all in one solution than hack one together myself.
>>60461654
if sound actually matters get one with replaceable fans but you will not get anything deemed "silent" that only is realistic in a selfbuild
also in regards of synology keep away from those containing the buggy Intel Atom C2538,
besides the cpu higher tier ones are pretty nice from my experience
Going to be buying one here soon myself. Probably a 2-bay due to price.
Purpose: Test out the NVR feature for my two IP cams and the other bay will be setup for private torrents. Looking to make the current setup more effective.

Get a used workstation or even better build one with cheap parts and server that shit
No time for love edition

What are you working on, /g/?
Rewriting C in the simply typed lambda calculus.
Reposting because I didn't see there's a new thread
I have an array of indices for opengl, but every second index number is not for drawing the actual mesh. Any way I can specify a stride for the indices? I know it's possible for the vertex buffer, but I can't find anything about what I need. Please send help

I know the answer, but I will demand an anime image as payment.

Can you burn down the world or at least destroy microsoft?
So I self-learned hunt n peck when I was very little like 5 or 6 and by the time i reached the point of school where they were trying to ingrain the idea of home keys and stuff I didn't see the point since I was already touch-typing without them. I'm 20 now and and still, only my index fingers type the letters and it looks very dumb.
How long would it take to get back up to my current speed (pic) if i were to learn how to use six fingers or whatever normal people do? And would it not be a bad idea to start learning dvorak since I'd be rewriting all of my muscle memory anyway? I hear it's better.
>>60461502
Could you film yourself while typing, at that speed it must look pretty ridiculous
>>60461502
Why bother relearning how to type if you're already reaching speeds well above average
>>60461630
Well for one because as a self-conscious introvert, if possible, i slide the keyboard into the desk while typing anywhere that there's other people.
And also because I've hit a dexterity wall, this is the absolute fastest I can type even in very short bursts where most people are probably way quicker than their sustained wpm not just ~15 above it. I don't actually know what proper touch-typists feel is the main limiting factor in their ability to type faster but I doubt it's the actual ability of their fingers to get between keys fast enough; It's probably finger independence or accuracy, something that's much easier to hone.
I want to get into 3d design and need to build a computer for modeling/rendering/animating. What should i look for? Gpu, cpu or even ram?
>>60461218
All of the Above.
>>60461355
Would be good if OP got a mobo, PSU, and some storage as well.
>>60461218
First get into 3d design.
Then get a computer when you decide youre being held back by what you have right now.
And i liked this site...
So what do you guys use to download stuff?
>>60461068
fuck off MPAA google it you lazy bastards

tnx m8

ruskitracker
chuwi lapbook or t430?
im mostly doing light 3d modelling and playing ppsspp and psx games.
>>60461016
>4GB
They are garbage.
Most of them use complete trash eMMC memory and some are too weak to say power a 2.5" external drive.
t430 maybe, they're not specially good but Chuwi is complete garbage, don't fall for it.
So it doesn't matter if my 8.1 PC is updated, I'll still inevitably get hit by Wannacry? I have common sense and all, but I feel like it literally cannot be prevented.
Yep. The only way you can stop it is by not using your computer at all. An alternative would be to move to Australia, but even then it will only delay the inevitable. And their internet sucks.

Just block port 445 retard
this thing does not block ads it just hides them, i have a filter which removes an autoplaying video in a website, thanks to this shit its now playing sound in the background. any good alternatives?
>>60460895
Your filter is wrong.
>>60460923
thanks senpai thats the answer i needed
So...any niggers know how yo stop autoplay videos using uBlockOrigin
Since games are almost always "non-free" according to Stallman, is it safe to say that DRM-free video games are okay enough to play?
Stupid question thread is over there.
>>60460863
>is it safe to say that DRM-free video games are okay enough to play?
OpenTTD is an example of a game that is FLOSS but allow you to use DRM-features (using the old art and music from the original game).
>>60461074
I'd love to see you explain how those features are in any way DRM.
Alright /g/. I need your help.
There's this guy at my work who spend his day on Discord and Battle.net chat typing endlessly.
I don't know his domain user password but sometimes he leaves his PC unlocked for 10 mins at a time.
What's my methods of finding out what he's typing and receiving?
>>60460789
why would you care what a loser types and reads?
>>60460859
Curiosity i guess. Could be good if he's on it all the time.
>>60460920
I bet he's just sending memes.
Anyway, download a proper keylogger. I'm willing to bet your office doesn't have any antivirus installed. And even if it does, 10 minutes is more than enough to properly exclude the keylogger from the AV and have it send you everything he types, even via LAN.
You know the drill.
Post your daily carry equipment.
Bonus points for SAKs, glock handguns and Dell laptops
in /edc/ threads im always wondering if you carry all those things in your pockets?
sometimes a travel bag isn't enough to contain all this shit posted there
>>60460762
I think you shouldn't take this thread literally.
Usually people just post in these threads to discuss their choices, even if they carry 90% of this shit once a month.
>>60460762
It's more a combination of Every Day Carry and Every Day Use. People want to show off their gear.
