Yeah you can either "write code" (actually just issuing a command in the console, it's called symlinks) or just use your graphical file manager to create links to desktops. Playonlinux (a GUI WINE manager) gives you a prompt if you want to do so.

No. Most of the stuff you can do is inside the /home directory, look at it this way:
/ => systemwide/user independent changes. Take cautions because it may brick your system
/home/USERNAME/ => user specific changes. You can install user specific programs, user specific paths etc here.

if you're Hackintoshing, ElCap is great. If you have real HW, go with Sierra.

PS: I've been playing with Pascal drivers and a 1080. It's fucking great! No bugs so far that I could see.

Sierra is pretty good rn. It's also required if you have a Pascal GPU.

Go with Sierra, start fresh, and look into doing a Vanilla install instead of TonyMacFag.

I don't like the fact that SwiftKey autolearns shit, including URLs and IIRC it can't be disabled.
The best keyboard I've used was TouchPal but it became unusable when they infested it with ads.
