Hi, /g/
Will I be burned at the stake for installing Windows 10 on my SSD/Desktop? Windows 7 has been giving me shit recently, and I cannot afford to tinker with Gentoo until after the term ends.
Here's my reasoning for installing windows 10 pro:
>Directx 12
>Runs LoL and a few others natively
>slightly better optimization than w7
Here's what I/we hate about w10:
>micro$oft
>telemetry(even though it's just tracking how the system is being used)
>limited on desktop customization
>not gentoo
Here's how I will redeem myself:
>get a Thinkpad with a i7 processor and install new stuff, plus gentoo

any game coming out worth playing also supports vulkan and older directx
eventually they will all either be vulkan or both, dx12 win10 monopoly isn't going to happen. the industry won't let it.

A better question would be why he expects DX12 to see any relevant implementation within the next few years, when the few rare positive graphs stemming from it come from unfinished and unstable beta or alpha stage games where crazy telemetry is a norm and not a sign of anything (like Hitman for example).
Even if DX12 does have relevance, these days new games are less and less exclusive to Windows, and more and more present on MacOS and Linux; which are better alternatives to Win10 while keeping Win7 sandboxed in the back for old games.

If I want to listen to music of a particular genre I just stream a free radio show or podcast. There are even legal apps for streaming mixtapes.
Why are people still paying for streaming services like Spotify or apple music?

How far do you take file security /g/?
I wrote a bash script to nest a directory in n number of password protected zip files. I also wrote one to embed that zip file (or any file) in a media file. Not exactly high level stuff, but it will at least make it hard for a layman to access my files.
I also started messing with VeraCrypt and it seems pretty solid. I'm thinking of using that in tandem with my scripts to have both security and obscurity.

What's the normal price? Its a good cpu but don't overclock it. Intel advised against overcooking the 7700k since it can reach 100.
I sold mine because of that reason and got a 1700 since it overclock stop 4.1 and is better than the 7700k at everything. And is equal to the 7700k in gaming.

I literally dont know most of my passwords, since they are some generated hashes.
Every once in a while (if I got "a lot" of new ones) I print them out and store them in a safe palce at home on a piece of paper. Just in case something goes wrong
