>been using default vim as a server-side text editor for like 10 years
>just okay at using it
Is making vim your real desktop text editor a meme? Sublime is nice and I don't have to worry about muh modes.

Post your favorite vim plugins, I guess. I'm interested in autocompletion for C++, anyone use clang-complete or YouCompleteMe?

I'm using vim for C development for like 2 years and I'm fine with it.

Using vim for C/C++ development pretty much forces you into creating your own working toolchain configuration instead of using an IDE. Some things are really hard to do without an IDE like "go to tag definition" ( you need ctags for that ) or "get a list of all the places this function is being called from" ( you need cscope for that )

On that point some types of development are really hard to do with manually set up toolchain, like ARM development ( IDEs there are superior ). Be careful what you do and make your setup to serve your purpose, not the other way around.

NOTE: YouCompleteMe is like 50 different plugins, really heavy. Keep it light, or sooner or later you will have to declare a "plugin bancrupcy"
>>
>>60567348
clang-complete is pretty alright on its own, gets the job done. if auto completion is an absolute must, stick with something faster like deoplete, otherwise try to avoid the autocomplete plugins as they're quite heavy. that said, some of my personal favorite plugins include
tpope/vim-reapeat
tpope/vim-surround
tpope/vim-commentary
scrooloose/nerdtree
airblade/vim-gitgutter
sjl/gundo
tommcdo/vim-exchange
junegunn/vim-easy-align

as anon mentioned before it might not be what you're expecting of it and you must be willing to put in some effort of your own if you want a streamlined toolchain from vim. if you can get over that the possibilities are endless and you can customize it to behave exactly as you want, which is where the appeal is for most people using it as 'real desktop text editor'

cool thread but consider this
I’d just like to interject for moment. What you’re refering to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Yes, it is, although I did not say anything related to the operating system Linux.

Should I get an iPad to read comics/manga on?

I'm leaning an Android tablet like Shield tablet because i know I won't have to worry about file compatibility and Comicat is good for Manga too supporting reading page spreads right to left.

If comics/manga is my priority, should I go iPad or Android?

get an iPad or an Android tablet with 4:3 screen ratio.
>>
Get a fucking android. Then get MangaWatcher, and you are all set.
>>
>>60554544
Most 4:3 Androids suck besides like the Tab S2 unfortunately which is expensive even used. I can get a first gen iPad Air at a decent price.

my wife is flying to somewhere alone. shes making a story that she needs to do an exam there for her school course, and wants to meet her relatives.

shes not good at hiding stuff. i know that shes been having a relationship with a guy online for months, and the guy lives there. shes going to be living in a hotel for a few weeks, and might fuck him.

i know that you can install some spying softwares after jail breaking. is it possible to report voice and audio, then have it uploaded when its connected to wifi?

Got a job at a Security Operations Center as an Analyst and I'm spooked that I might be under-qualified. I've messed with Kali and know enough to probably have my Security+, but my programming skills are quite plebby and I could probably benefit from studying networking a lot more. I really don't know my way around Linux aside from looking stuff up.

Am I fucked, or will they train me as much as I'm being led to believe? Any tips in general for an entry level sec job?

Extensions are actually mostly meant to help humans tell files apart than the software.

Except for Windows for some reason. Mostly something leftover from them DOS days.

Since we're all sitting around all day doing TECHNOLOGY at desks, chair thread?

Thinking about replacing my Ikea chair(Markus, I believe) with a Steelcase Gesture. Plenty used ones in supposedly "Like New" condition listed around my area for like $250. There's also a few Aeron's floating around for a little bit more than I may try. Assuming the condition checks out, I'm thinking about going for it. Worth the upgrade? Anyone else have experience with it? Should I be looking at something else? What chair best respects my backs freedom?

>>
Do it.
>>
I've never tried the Gesture, but my work is filled with leap chairs. They are comfy, Arm caps and cylinder aren't that durable though but I think the cylinder breaks cause of retards just slamming there fat ass on the chair.
Aeron's are good.
>>
I think we have steelcase at work. Pretty comfy but the arms tend to break and they're expensive

It's pretty convenient to have your most used right in front of you as opposed to going into the menu every time.
