I have a Palit 980 Ti
It hits ~75C under load, would I benefit from watercooling it or should I save my shekels for RX Vega?

Wait for Volta
Just waitâ„¢
How many shekels?
How can I protect my files and privacy from government surveillance? I want to escape from those 1984-like censorship.
Currently using VeraCrypt and ExpressVPN.
any recommends?
Make sure you're using GNU/Linux (WITHOUT Unity) or MacOS. Make sure you're using a secure browser such as Firefox (preferably GNU IceCat) or Iridium Browser (still has the potential to phone home to Google). Make sure your VPNs are secure. Stop using Google and use StartEngine instead. Stop using the same passwords for everything. Use a seedbox for torrenting. Use an encrypted email service. That should be enough for the short term.

Why does wireless payment suck so fucking much right now?
Why do you have so many cards? Churning? I have two chase cards, a debit card, a really old credit union credit card. I had the Amex platinum too but I just got rid of it because the points are worthless to me.
I put my phone in the samsung pay machine once and it wouldn't come out. like the machine ate my phone or something. its like when the atm eats your card.fuck this shit i said. from now on its cash only for me from under my mattress. who even can deal with all this newq age bullshit tech things like zuckerman are developing in their basement like wehat in the world. i just cant anymore
What the fuck do you have more than 10 cards for?
How do you pronounce 'route', and how do you pronounce 'router'?
I'm German, I call it "rooter", even though it would technically wrong, I guess.
route like route
router like router with with r after route
root and rowter
Are JIT and GC ever faster than static compilation and manual memory management?
>>60624852
yes
>>60624852
Not necessarily, but they can be under some circumstances.
The key about JIT compilation is that it allows the compiler global knowledge of the program. For instance, the Java JIT can know that a certain method is monomorphic and therefore inline its implementation at every call site, whereas a C++ compiler can't know that since other methods may be linked in later.
As for the performance of GCs, that's more controversial. There's a classical Lisp paper that mathematically proves that a GC offers higher theoretical throughput than a malloc/free system, but it is contested to have changed since the rise to prominence of caches. I haven't seen a rigorous treatment of that assertion, however.

CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you too lazy to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good; may have heat issues even at stock clocks
>R7/Xeon - compute/Multitask/mixed use
>Threadripper/i9 soon
Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050Ti at ~$105. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings for some games
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider only if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA)
>1070 - 1080p@144hz/1440p@100+hz
>1080 - 1080p@90-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings

>Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity as a scratch disk

>Computex in a few days, wait for it
Assuming i wanna do some decent overclocking of my R7 1700, say to 3.7 or 3.8GHz here, what cooler would be great for this at the lowest price possible? Also it needs to be non-noisy, and it'd be great if i could slap one of my 140mm fans on it
The stock cooler isn't good for achieving those overclocks at a constant full load.

But clock speeds
I have a powerful PC, high refresh dual monitors, mechanical keyboard with the stupid RGB lights - but my speakers are 15 year old Logitech 2.1 pieces of shit I bought cheap and they are definitely the weakest part of my set up.
I want to bring my PC sound up to snuff so it could give my 5.1 Onkyo and B&W living room setup a run for it's money but I am unsure where to start. Are PC speakers out of a box of decent quality or should I apply my lounge room logic to my PC and build a 2.0 or 2.1 set up with separate receiver and speakers? And then do I buy a traditional stereo receiver and connect everything via the 3.5mm audio jack or do I look at DAC's and connecting via USB?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have the Intel i5 Series with state of the art Turbo Boost auto-overclocking technology, the Nvidia Geforce GTX, and 16GiB of Double Data Rate RAM.

>>60623912
No. But you can write scripts in Matlab.
>>60623912
Dunno but it saved my ass once.
Needed to do evolutionary something something with 35000 - 100 000 iterations and put them into graph.
Needles to say, all my classmates did it in C, then to txt and then to excel while I went straight to graph with matlab.
KEK.
>>60624180
