Is learning Dvorak a waste of time?
20 posts and 2 images submitted.
>>
>>60659740
Unless you tried it and reeeally prefer it over qwerty, no... The learning curve is steep if you're already a proficient touch-typist and the setup itself is a PITA.

I learned dvorak over a few weeks of summer break some years ago. Still use it today, both at home and at work, no regrets.
Here's the method I used. It does not involve keyboard modification, so as an added bonus you'll be a 100% touch typist when you're done:
>print out a picture of the dvorak layout
>place it on your desk so it's right next to your screen
>start typing in dvorak, using the picture as a reference
>if you don't type much, find reasons to type or play a touch typing game
>a few days in, move the picture away so you have to physically move your head to see it
>later on, remove the picture from view entirely, but keep it in a place where you can reach for it
It was hell for two weeks, but then it got better.

Class and function names must be reverse-camel-cased.
class oPiSafAG {

void sOME_aWFUL_fUNCTION() {

}

Each token has its own line.
int
main
(
int
argc
,
char

)
{
printf
(
"Hello, world!\n"
)
;
return
0

}

The == operator is bad style. Always prefer a more readable expression like !(x - y).

Expect that aren't down.

Intel is doing better than ever. Their bread and butter (normal Pentium to Core i5s) are selling like hotcakes while their server/workstation tiers (Xeons) are enjoying their fortress.

This stunt makes no bloody sense. Somebody at Intel thinks it is still 1990s.....

AMD only threatens Intel's workstation/server line-up with upcoming Epyc and Threadripper.

>AMD only threatens Intel's workstation/server line-up with upcoming Epyc and Threadripper.
That is where most of their money is coming from.

Latest HEDT is an attempt to get rid of binned xeon rejects by selling them to goys at absurd prices, like usual.

Has anyone else had issues with their windows pc recently? I've used a little windows netbook just to browse the web, against my better judgement, I figured if I just used it to read news and use 4chan it would be secure enough.

I'm now on my linux machine and will never use Microsoft software again. I've never had a single security issue running linux, this morning on the windows book all my requests were redirected to a site requesting a username and password, Windows warning that it was a malicious pornographic website and that logging into this server was illegal. I don't download pornography on this machine, I've only used it to read the news.

I own a domain and got an email from the dns provider that it has more than 5,000 directories and will be shut down. The weird thing about that is, I only own the domain, i'm not paying for hosting services.

Has anyone else had similar problems? How is Microsoft even a company at this point? Luckily I don't keep anything personal on this PC, but what if I were running a business and using this machine? Really just disturbed at how shitty their software has become.

fuck you, microsoft.

daily reminder AMD's Ryzen's haven't come close to fastest real speeds on userbenchmark's website and the current leader was an unmarked intel CPU which we now know is from their new i9 series

intel also owns the "logical" cpu market with the G4560 at $50-60

and intel's 7700k is still the cheapest and best for gaming with over 30% speed in gaming over AMD
