Where do you go to discover Linux software that you didn't know you needed?
Try to compile anything

I just put randomly generated sets of 3 constants and vowels together and google them. Sometimes cool shit happens. Found zfs last Tuesday.

This is a technology board, please upgrade to a free search engine.
Why aren't you coding on a Mac?
>>60686635
I am but only because I need to develop for iOS. Even that has set us back a month because iOS is fucking retarded.
>Development time for android
2 weeks to get a working app
>Development time for iOS
kek 2 months, maybe. Welcome to a fucking rabbit hole of strange functions, nonsensical errors and just outright weird fucking behaviour.
>>60686635
Why exactly do you need 2 computers to program a phone app?
What a shitty picture.
The top one is contrived but it looks more like a well lived in desk by a real person.
The bottom one looks like a promotional photo.

Is it possible to only download a certain part of torrent?
Like only download the last 5 minutes of a 2 hour movie torrent.
Yes. Google it.
No.
>>60686611
Most clients don't allow you to but it is in the torrent spec. Don't know of any that do top of my head.
old thread: >>60679964
What are you working on, /g/?
First Ruby as the comfiest language.

>tfw can't do shit in the project tree
>tfw can't copy paste files
>tfw can't explore files from the tree
You cucks have lost your mind with your shitty editors
Why not just use whatever you prefer and stop getting your panties in a bunch if someone else likes something you don't?
OP you're right, just use vim or emacs and gcc.

Wind-farms are so low-tech and inefficient in terms of real-estate.
World's largest plane. Wings are so un-imaginative. Where are the anti-gravity saucers?
Figure out how to generate gravity and you'll be fucking rich, you and your family and your family's family.
this plane makes no sense
why are there 2 hulls? what the fuck is this made for
>>60686317
Probably for structural integrity of the wings. Better to have 3 small pieces instead of 2 large ones.
Considering it's full botnet. And no, Kodi is not a full alternative. Kodi is great for an in-home media center, but it can't handle transcoding and streaming to your devices. Am I missing something? I legitimately can't find a decent alternative to plex - not even components to stitch together to do it myself.
VLC + Apache

Hey /g/ i recently got an old Gateway M285 from a friend, and I'm gonna install a 32-bit version of Windows 10 on it and give it to my girlfriend so she can begin practicing her digital art. Is this a good idea? Has an Intel centrino (practically a core 2 duo) a flip-able screen and a stylus? Also any good free digital art software?
>>60685936
Sorry OP here, forgot to mention I'm putting one of my spare SSD's in it.

Are the Cisco/Microsoft certs actually worth doing?
All certs are a scam more or less, especially without the work experience to back it up
>>60685648
If you want them, just put them in your resume and lie. Nobody has ever asked for proof of any of mine, and I guess it's never come up on a background shit. I know the stuff, but fuck if I'll pay hundreds to prove it.

Who are high end desktop platforms for?
They're unnecessary for gaming. 7700K(>120Hz) or R5(60Hz) does that fine, more threads are not needed.
For streaming/personal video editing you have R7.
If rendering is your actual job, you render on a server (cluster), not the desktop PC. You're also looking at Xeon, not Threadripper or Skylake-X. Same goes for virtualisation and so forth.
So is the only use case epeen enhancement?
>>60685278
define "high end"
>>60685297
HEDT as in Threadripper and Lga2011. Binned server CPUs for consumers.
>>60685278
Well, many professional tasks need high end computing power that doesn't necessariky mean a server.
Like Modeling, Rendering, Video Editing, Simulations and scientific calculations.
There are many things tou can do with a high end desktop.
A server may not be the most optimal way in some cases.
Maybe you want each PC to have their own independent rendering and then the final project can be done in farms, for example
