So I have been at work moving all of our shit out because we sold the yard that we have kept since the 70s, and in some old surveyors equipment, I found 4 factory sealed data tapes, pic related.
I can't seem to find much about them, modle and what not, and was just wondering if they are rare or just forgotten.
I am giving them to a buddy of mine who has old Commodores and can actually use them, but I was wondering if they have any actual value or are just a cool dinosaur that I found.
>data tapes
Excellent chance of trolling newfags, OP.
Can I suggest you invest in a BIC ball point pen (biro to the British) and FFWD that shit. Guaranteed side A is used and side B is not

*Cassettes
Sorry fella.
Here is a pic if the actual haul.
No probs, pal. They're worth Jack Shit: I notice eba has a higher quality tape deck for about thirty-five quid (50 dollars US) but realisitically, what can be copied to them?
I'm actually an ancientfag being 49yo. I didn't use r300s, but I did use c15 and c90s, and and c15 could store slightly more than 48,000 bytes.
You could possibly sell them to audio fags for the same reason you can sell melted vinyl to them.
What distro should I install on my laptop /g/? I'm ready for something new.

You could, but you'd look like a gay retard.

CPUs:
>G4560 - budget builds (<$500) unless G4600/G4620/i3-7100 is heavily discounted
>R5 1500x - generally all you need for 60fps with power to spare. No i5
>R5 1600 - best value for higher fps gaming & mixed usage; 1600x if you too lazy to OC
>i7-7700k - bad value but good for higher FPS; may have heat issues
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper/i9 - compute/Multitask/mixed use
Graphics:
>G4560 iGPU is fine for desktop stuff and very light game
>1050Ti for low budget. Drop settings if not Freesync/Gsync on newer games; RX560 if discounted <$90
>RX570 4GB - 1080p@60+hz, running most maxed; older games at 144+hz
>RX580 8GB - 1440p@60+hz, inject SMAA & drop settings
>1060 - Generally outperformed by the RX 580 and GSync costs more; consider if AMD is not an option (ie CUDA/miners buying all RX570s)
>1070 - if on heavy sale-ish
>1080 - 1080p@100-144+hz maxed; 1440p at lower hz.
>1080Ti - 1440p@90-144+hz; 4k@60hz in SOME games, more at lower settings
General:
>READ PRODUCT REVIEWS to see if that cheap SSD/PSU or whatever is reliable
>Consider larger SSD-only for what you budget SSD+HDD combined. Add HDD later once needed
>NVMe aren't for faster OS boot. They're primarily for productivity/scratch disk/VMs
>Stop confusing any M.2 drive with NVMe. M.2 is a form factor
>mATX board + case is often cheaper
>1 SR DIMM is slower than 2 DIMMs

What will /g/brit do after this election?
Aren't you folks pretty much screwed beyond belief with this?
If the conservatives come into power then you're gonna move towards a less socialist China, but if Labour wins then you're going to be moving towards normal China, and we all know that it's going to be one or the other at this rate.
To make it slightly more /g/ and less /pol/.
What do you folks plan on doing to protect your privacy and freedoms when the govt go for their anti freedom policies?
Install Gentoo.

If either of the two major parties have their way then there's genuinely a chance that Gentoo would be "problematic".

-post your small tech support questions HERE, don't create a thread for them
-don't just bump the thread, most people look for posts without replies
-take at least 10 seconds checking your problem with a search engine

Hello,
I fell for the Seagate meme and just lost my 1tb external hard drive (shit isn't mounting anymore).
Any recommendations for a new USB storage device?
Install gentoo wiki suggests to just buy a regular hard drive and use an adapter case for it, is that ok?

Is this a new communism mascot? Fucking seriously, how can you Linux people not see it for what this shit here actually is? It's pure communism. By using this shit on your desktops you're literally undermining the core of the Western society, and that's capitalism, free flow of capital and money, financial markets and ABOVE ALL you're depriving the hard working software developers their money by using these "free", sloppy, half assed alternatives like Linux, BSD and such.
This thing is already spreading across all of our devices today and using it will turn us into USSA. Is that what you fucking want? Free software leads to free hardware, we already had Bernie Sanders promising his voters free Xbox gaming consoles and Hillary Clinton promised women free abortions and free birth control pills. Once it takes off it's communism all the way, and this shitty penguin will be the major cause of bread lines and poverty in the USA, or should I call it USSA.
Some of the largest, most successful, wealthiest companies have based their operation, at least in part, on Free software. Free software is an IP licensing model, a philosophy and development paradigm, not an economic system. Free software enthusiasts aren't against capitalism, they just don't think pure capitalism is the be all and end all to growth, security and the problems facing society.
Free software licences still have cost and value, some of the tenets of capitalism.
Also, don't confuse capitalism with the consolidation of wealth and power.
I'm sure there are some Free software proponents who are also socialist, but that's incidental and largely unrelated to how software is designed and distributed.

>communism
Communism forces you to do thingsa certain way. Linux is anti-communism.

Because it's created by full autismo people

IPv6 failed the moment idiots decided it would be a replacement rather than an addition to IPv4.

I started learning scripting languages and i just found out Powershell has native webscraping libraries
I have also found out InvokeWebrequest has -UseBasicParsing parameter which basically loads only basic portion of the site (what is "basic"?), is that only part of the HTML or what?
Can anyone explain what's the difference between regular InvokeWebrequest and BasicParsing?
Also, is there a difference if i use for example HTMLAgilityPack for c# and Powershell (with UseBasicParsing). I'd like to scrape a site every few minutes so i'd like to put as little load on a site as i can

All i have to add is that my nicad dewalt batteries died and I bought a new lithium ion. The nicad ones have to be left on the charger or they'll die within days. The lithium batteries I have never charged in 8 months. Fucking A awesome.
