I just do break/fix from home for a company. Pays well for the work itself, benefits are good, besides working from home.
I used to have a remote-admin job for a rather large number of VPS servers (12 units, 12 clients per). Fucker who owned it paid well, on time, and without hassle... till one day I went to log in and nothing worked. I was in near panic trying to get him on the phone to physically check the servers, no answer. Called the colo he had them in, they went and checked... and he'd cable cut and fucked off. Just up and disappeared with all the gear.
I got my last paycheck a few days later, paid in full, but wtf.

Phillip Walter Katz (November 3, 1962 – April 14, 2000) was a computer programmer best known as the co-creator of the Zip file format for data compression, and the author of PKZIP, a program for creating zip files that ran under DOS.
Katz battled alcoholism for years. The earliest known arrest occurred in 1991. About a year later, Katz was again convicted of drunk driving. Between 1994 and September 1999, Katz was arrested five times for operating after suspension or revocation of his driver's license.
Before his death, Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department had several outstanding warrants against Katz, including jumping bail and the charges of operating an automobile while intoxicated and operating after revocation.
On April 14, 2000, at the age of 37, Katz was found dead in a hotel room (Skyway Motel, 8361 S 27th St) with an empty bottle of peppermint schnapps in his hand. A coroner's report stated his death was a result of acute pancreatic bleeding caused by chronic alcoholism.

my current monitor setup is: one 144hz 24inch acer, one insignia 24in hz, and an HP 24inch 60hz
i need help deciding whether or not I should have a single 1440p 144hz monitor, keep my 144hz monitor and get a 4k tv to go along with it, or two more of my 144hz acer monitor. I'm not sure what to choose because I like my 144hz monitor but I don't like how much space a three monitor setup takes. what's the difference between 1080 and 1440? is 4k worth it? help pls

I've tried CNNs with # of parameters ranging from 100k to 6m with batchnorm, dropout and data augmentation via adam and it is literally impossible to get above 96% accuracy
what am I missing

This may be a rookie question but since I am switching from amd to intel I will have to do a new install of Windows 10, so my question is are there any ways to transfer the settings I have currently on this install of Windows 10 to the new install after I am done with the hardware upgrade? I just don't want to go through hours of resetting things and what not. If there is no way though then I am fine with the resetting of things.

Msconfig - select "boot in safe mode" on the old system. Power it off, unplug the HDD, build a new system. Power it on, boot into a safe mode, wait till it installs the drivers, msconfig - unselect "boot in safe mode", reboot.

iphone 7 plus is a buggy lagfest. Just because they force some shitty UI gimmicks doesn't mean it's taking less time to load simple applications.
For all the pride they take for "just werks" it sure is a piece of shit experience. There's a long laundry list of fuckups on the latest iOS alone and this is on the newest model of the phone. It's only going to go downhill from here in terms of software quality

I used to work for a shop here that charged that for labor when doing a ram upgrade, but we included running memtest86+, changing the page file, and more importantly optimizing the OS to boot, and work faster since that's what everyone doing a ram upgrade expect. He defrag, removing startup, clearing out temp files.
I think the $40 for labor was well spent

16 GB ram 2TB Hard drive core i7 for $250?? Nothing is wrong with this laptop, this is a steal right?
A used book store near me that also sells electronics and music stuff is selling it. I've noticed that if it's not something popular like apple or sony they charge way less. It's a beats laptop btw. If i can't flip it for a quick 200 then I'll just use it for my own? There's nothing wrong with the computer and I plan on a clean wipe of the drive then put on linux and a copy of windows 10.
