Why are most old people so utterly incompetent when it comes to learning how to use computers or smartphones?
Is it their fault or are humans truly unable to learn new environments when they're old?
Is the same thing going to happen to us?
>is the same thing going to happen to us
In the over-customized world we live, it looks like the old people of today aren't as bad as our current gen will be- who grew up fidgeting with their UI. No objective thinking just, "wah, I want it to be prettty."

>psst! Grandson! I want to show you something.
>What is it, grandpa?
>Check out this rice, my dude. You damn kids and your augmented reality headsets will never know the struggle of editing a config file meticulously until your wm is just right. All you kids--you kids! You think you can just swap out your digitally rendered, three-dimensional waifus at the wave of a hand. When I was your age, we had these things called wallpapers, and you had to EARN your waifu by scouring the internet until you came upon the right image, and you stood by your choice. I stood by my waifu. I loved her. I cared for her.
>Granpaw, what's a wai--
>Bah! You kids will never understand. Forget it. Go and do your erotic play with your sister. Make sure you ream her real good in the asshole, Billy.
>Okay, grandpa
>>60941685
We'll be fine, but kids that are just growing up now? They don't know anything about how their phones work, and they don't care. They're just as incompetent as old people are today - they're just used to how their phones work now. In forty years they'll be struggling with whatever we have then.
So, what distro should I choose for laptop?
Arch doesn't working.
Debian is shitty
Ubuntu... just no
Install Solus
Gentoo
install gentoo

Intel is unbeateable feature wise
Optane

Intel WiGi
AMD might have performance and efficiency, but it lacks features.
Zen isn't good enough for me. I'd wait for 7nm and see.
got my thinkpad x62 motherboard today. This shit kicks ass. For the uninformed, the x62 is an upgrade to the x61, an entirely new motherboard produced in shenzen by 51nb.com.
This x62 has an intel i5 engineering sample cpu, 8gb ram, 64 gb ssd (sata III), usb 3, display port, 4:3 1024x768 ips, and an 8 cell battery.

So you just built the perfect thousand dollar rig that can run all the games at max settings. You did remember to set aside money for an equally impressive monitor didn't you? What's the point of running everything on high if you can't enjoy the eye candy?
Post how much you paid for your monitor and those sick specs.

Uh oh, /g/! Hime needs your help!
She's spending a summer in America, and she's taken on a job as a waitress. But she doesn't know how to make change in American money!
Write a program that accepts a string and outputs the smallest number of coins needed to make change, using only quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies.
Example:input: "$1.05"
output: "4 Quarters, 1 Nickel"
Good luck!
>>60935572
>quarters, dimes, nickels, and pennies
lol poorfag
>>60935572
I'm not doing your homework for you anon. this is elementary stuff you learn right after hello world.
>>60935572
You know, this would actually be an interesting challenge if you were forced to parse a floating point value from a string without using standard library function like sscanf or parseFloat.
new firefox stuff came out today. anyone else make the switch? i decided to try it out for a while since ive been using chrome forever.
also read online a firefox employee said to manually enable multi something process something, and i did that, and shit runs smooth as butter now

Has anyone done the Intel ME firmware update for their Sandy Bridge Thinkpads? I've tried to get it running on my W520 but whenever I run the Windows command line, I keep getting the error message "FWUpdLcl.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command", ie Lenovo's program cannot execute the ME update agent. Is there a way around this?

Is programming fun as a job? It's fun as a hobby but is it the same as a job?
I make games for a living. I think it's pretty fun. But it's because I enjoy it and enjoy the company I work at.
It's just a small indie studio, so I kind of just do whatever needs to be done. No strict deadlines really, it's pretty chill.
The pay could he higher but I guess low pay is the price I pay to have 35 hour work weeks.
>>60954833
What country do you live in? What programming language are you working with? What's your age / how much experience?
>>60954859
Los Angeles, California. It's c#/unity. I'm 22, I've only been working for two years now. Only making $55k/year+some benefits.
I know I could apply and get accepted to a bigger company for a pay raise (I've gotten offers) but I'm banking on getting stock in this small studio ran by very intelligent guys.
I know this isn't Helpdesk or whatever but surely there is something I'm doing wrong right?
Tried to update a steam game, said the game couldn't update because a folder in C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\downloading\507 was missing
Ok, just delete the folder and try again
Access Denied you need permission from >LAPTOPMODEL\ANON
open Command Prompt: whoami
>LAPTOPMODEL\ANON
>niggerwhat.mp4
>ok, go to properties in folder change permissions under Securtiy/advanced
set LAPTOPMODEL\ANON as owner to this file and all sub-files with rwx/full control protocols.
Make sure all processes of steam are kill.
guess who I still need permission from
>LAPTOPMODEL\ANON
open CMD again
>rmdir /q/s
>access denied
>every fucking folder
try to re-install steam
>can't do it because location needs to be empty

actually a "dumb" solution would be to boot into a linux live cd or usb and delete the files from there. linux is unaffected by windows permissions.

I've got a copy of Tinycore on my PC, just access the partition and delete it, would that work?
Can /g/ recommend a 10Gb managed switch that can do 5GBASE-T negotiation on at least 2 ports?
I'm rewiring my house and am thinking:
Two Aruba 330s
10Gb NIC for my server
Teaming my NAS for 2Gb speeds
And that gives me around 6-10k for a 10Gb switch. Please help.
