Within the first week, identify the weakest member of your team. Be as friendly as you can, social, with *all* members of your team. But help him/her less (or not at all if you can get away with it). You probably won't be able to in a junior role, but if you could set him/her up for failure *absolutely without detection*, that would be great too.

Then in a few months when the scythe of restructuring comes, he/she'll be the first to go and you'll be safe. Rinse and repeat.

Wouldn't it be better to jump ship after 2-3 times before people realize what's going on?

Picked up an old WYSE 55 for like 20 bucks and a USB to rs232 adapter for shits. I don't have a keyboard or anything for it. Is there anyway I can just use this as a tty and output to it? Whenever I try and write anything to it, nothing happens. Same result with setting it as the default console or using minicom, etc. Also retro tech thread.

>Assemble your parts list
https://pcpartpicker.com/
>How to assemble a PC, select components & more (kind of outdated)
https://wiki.installgentoo.com/index.php?title=Build_a_PC

If you want help:
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?

CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1500x - All you really need for 60fps with power to spare; Don’t get an i5 right now.
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.

GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz
>RX580 and GTX1060 - 1080p@60hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; Go for the RX580 if you can.
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@144hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.
>GTX 1080 Ti - 1440p@144 hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games; You're kind of going overboard with this one.
>Titan XP - 4k@60hz maxed in most, if not all games; You don't need this unless you're curing cancer or something.

General:
>ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
>Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
>NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.

Please be nice to people asking questions. No fanboy arguments please.

Ryzen is good until 90c but 60c under prime95 is still far below what most Intel chips hit. I just happen to have a 250-300w TDP capable cooler bolted onto my 1700.

You will never master everything, pick your favorite topic and specialize in it. Thats where the money is anyway. The people who dabble in everything end up in desktop support or helpdesk and never really do anything with their lives.
>>
>>60947924
Well, anon you can do two things.

The first thing you could is master your favorite topic until you have such a well understanding of it that you can change the industry.
Or secondly, you could be the one to make true immortality a reality, and so you could till the end of time continue to improve yourself.

Because anons on a Cantonese sweat lodge image board (i.e., time-wasting faggots) want you to waste days and days learning how to - and then compiling - and entire OS from its source code.

Also because it's a meme around here.

Are you running OSX/macOS on a non-apple machine /g/? How's everything going so far?
Also, some tips for beginners:
>discord: https://discord.gg/u8V7N5C

>tonymac (use it if you need references for building a hackintosh) https://www.tonymacx86.com/
>how to install Sierra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IULkDIO0f0I
>WHY YOU SHOULD AVOID Tonymac:
http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/279450-why-insanelymac-does-not-support-tonymacx86/
basically: tonymac software uses outdated kexts, clover, methods, patches; they install them in awful legacy locations; they install too many of them; they're closed-source, hide everything from you, mess with local system directories/files, make troubleshooting a nightmare, and don't credit the real devs, they steal kexts to the point where in most beast installs you can get a message telling you to not support tmac in the boot log.
>how to use the discord properly:
after waiting 10 minutes to become a member type "$links" to get a full list of available sources than type "$link <name>", if you want something else try asking someone online.
>why macOS instead of linux?
-best of both worlds (proper third party support)
-simpler experience
-compatibility with *nix applications
-developing iOS apps
-Safari
-macOS built in applications
-reasonably secure

You're never going to be able to replace high performance clusters that run Gentoo, or OpenStack RHEL clusters with this, so good luck.
