Why are you on this website, arguing about interfaces and operating systems? Do any of you have fucking lives?

Hello /g/ents. I was cleaning my grandpas house and found two of these stashed away carefully.
Does anyone have any idea what this is and if it's worth something?
The closest of a hint I can give you is that it's probably some kind of a amateur radio component since grandpa was a huge HAM radio enthusiast (he had a giant spiderweb radio antenna on the roof for years). The body seems like a tube, the top part is painted metal (it's a heat sink of some sort).

Her it is slightly rotated. The little text it has on it seems to be in chyrilic...
Looks like an old OTK-2.
Nice find.

That's fine, I've got nothing to hide

Silicon Valley giants are more powerful than many of the nations of the world, which why places like Denmark have employed their first ‘techplomat’
http://www.trunews.com/article/silicon-valley-giants-carry-more-weight-than-many-countries
>(COPENHAGEN) The top firms in California's Silicon Valley carry more weight on the global stage than many countries, which makes building diplomatic relations with them increasingly important, the world's first national technology ambassador said. Chosen to fill what his country's foreign ministry has dubbed the first "techplomacy" posting on the U.S. West Coast, Denmark's Casper Klynge will be tasked with building direct ties between his country and the likes of Facebook, Apple and Alphabet's Google.
>"We are to continue doing traditional diplomacy with countries and organizations, but we also have to start looking into what relation you can have with these big tech companies," Klynge told Reuters in an interview. The aim was to help Denmark understand the impact of rapid changes in digital technology while promoting the country's interests and values - setting up a channel of communication that would also benefit the companies. "If you look at these companies' involvement and significance for you and me, many of them have a much greater degree of influence than most nations," he said in comments cleared for publication late on Friday. In economic terms, the new partners are comparable.
>Denmark's 2016 gross domestic product was 2.06 trillion Danish crowns ($310 billion), sitting between Facebook's current $437 billion market value and the $185 billion of Oracle Corp. With tech companies under growing pressure to share encrypted information to prevent terrorism, Klynge also identified the ability of radical individuals or groups to exploit online platforms as a key issue.
>companies that produce absolutely nothing like Facebook supposedly more powerful than actual nations because they claim more value in funny money
No.
>>60977826
>Implying someone like Facebook or Google isn't more powerful than half of Europe
>With tech companies under growing pressure to share encrypted information to prevent terrorism, Klynge also identified the ability of radical individuals or groups to exploit online platforms as a key issue
Oh fuck off. This has bugger all to do with terrorism, you see a tool for population control and you want in.

Why does Android suck so fucking much now? It was so nice and stable feeling back in the KitKat days. Or was I just younger and less picky?
Remember when you didn't need to use MTP?
Remember when stuff was fast?
Remember when it felt like a really clean computer with a good touch screen interface, rather than an IOT PDA?
>>60977583
Kitkat killed direct file system access and added stupid SD card permissions. And Dalvik was/is stuttery trash. Stop getting so nostalgia'd.
>>60977583
The fuck are you talking about? Kitkat had a terrible battery optimization and terrible lag. After updating from 4 to 6 my device literally never freezes anymore and has a much better battery life. But yes, MTP is cancer.
>>60978024
those battery """optimizations"""" are literally just making the phone stay asleep all the time. now instead of actually getting notifications when you should, your phone only wakes up every half hour or so to check.

Default answer when asked about Brave:
Really good on Android.
Still completely shit on desktop.
>>60977365
Does it have plugins where you can interject your own js and css?
I couldn't find any.
>>60977365
It suffers the same basic problem as chrome: it's a browser made by an ad company. Ad companies are not your friends.
Convince me not to fall for the iPhone meme. I've been an Android user for about 5 years and I'm wanting to switch because of the better app optimization and more consistent updates.
Pic unrelated
Devs care more about iPhone, do it op

Not sure if kik does this but
Peer-to-peer communcation
PGP Encryption
VOIP
Snapchat-esque features as well
FOSS
Cross-platform with desktop/web client
API support
I could go on, but meh
Sponsored posts are better suited on Reddit, maybe?
>>60977220
No desktop client first and foremost. I don't give a shit how good your application is, if I have to use it on a touch screen or a virtual machine, you can forget about it.
Especially when it's a chat application, there are so many that you don't get to make demands of what platform I use, I will simply use one of the others.
