Is anything happening/releasing in the GPU/RAM department soon or should i upgrade with things that are available now? I am making a PC for video/audio software and gaming so i was waiting for Intel if they will make something as cheap and decent as Ryzen but i guess they don't want my poorfag money, but i don't know if Nvidia or AMD are releasing some juicy GPU's.

Is silent computing still a thing?
Whenever I look for goos silent PC hardware, most of the websites are either outdated or offer too little information.

What parts would you recommend for building a 800$ computer that is basically unhearable under full load?

there is literally nothing else to it
>>
>>60971723
You also get less noise if you buy more effificent processor without TIM under heatspreader.
>>
>>60971723
Sure isl.
As previous anon said, get some colossal cooler like noctua-nh-d15, or Hyper 212+ EVO as a cheaper alternative so the passive cooling from the heatsink does most of the job. Slap on one decent pressurized fan using a dampener, and then look for a graphics card with the performance you want and get the variant that has a low noise level and not-shit-reviews.
You do not need a silenced case, but if you want it to be "basically unhearable under full load" for whatever reason (do you sleep next to the system while rendering or something?) you may considered it. You do not need a multitude of case fans.

"In its complaint, Qbex claims it received 35,000 customer complaints and 4,000 lawsuits in Brazil due to design errors found in the SoFia SoC by an independent review it plans to release later. Qbex “is now known as the brand of exploding and defective smartphones,” it said."

Redpill me on crypto currency /g/. I've earned about 34 bucks in 4 days so far mining eth, but I feel like I could be earning more. Bitcoin has been raped by ASICs which is why I've been mining eth but is there a better currency out there? I have dual RX 480s and a Ryzen 1700, electricity costs need not apply, what should I be doing to maximize my profit? Pic totally unrelated, a thermal image of my head when I was sick

Wait for bitcoin to break it's own ass on the floor, (probably in 5 months or so) then start buying up asic resistant coins with a low coin supply. Buy them every month and keep control of your private keys. When BTC eventually comes roaring back, you might be stacking millions.
>>
>>60971578
>>60971578
I understand, I guess if the price if btc drops low enough I could probably buy a small amount of that too and sell once it goes back up again? Although I guess that may take awhile
>>
>>60971578
how does btc coming roaring back plus asic resistant coins=stacking millions?

Hey /g/,
is it possible on Windows for 7z to unpack a whole bunch of archive files SUCCESSIVELY and at the same time apply a filter to the process, so that only files with a certain FILE NAME are getting extracted FROM WITHIN those archives?

For example:
You got 500 individual archives, each containting several files, some of which contain the word [VERIFIED] in their file name - and you only want to extract those.

I did some reading and right now it seems to me that it's not possible.

Thanks

Retard method: extract all the files to the same folder, do advanced search for files that don't contain the word VERIFIED, ctrl+a and delete everything the search shows

Source: I am a retard
>>
>>60971199
I of course have thought of doing that. It's just not very elegant, and you need the extra space for all the unwanted files - admittedly not really a problem right now but I still would like to know if 7z or 7za are capable doing something like this.
>>
>>60971159
list files in 7z
for each file in files:
>unpack file -> temp/file
>list nested_files in temp/file
>for each nfile in nested_files
>>if nfile.string.contains("VERIFIED")
>>>unpack nfile -> save/nfile
>del temp/file

If you could choose, would you go Java or C#?

What can Java do that C# can't?
What can C# do that Java can't, aside from games?
What's more future-proof?
Both can now run on all major systems so that doesn't bother me.

What's more comfy in the long run? I know Java fairly well, and after a few Unity scripts Visual Studio feels a lot more comfy, but I haven't used the language that much to feel out the difference.

Java

Java, because it beats C# in nearly every category when it comes to developing on a non-shit operating systems. It also can be supplemented by other big JVM languages like Kotlin, Scala and Clojure.

SLI is garbage, don't do it.

For your information, no, the i7 won't bottleneck the SLI setup because SLI setups are garbage.
>>
>>60970727
>>60970732
Why is SLI so bad? I thought 2 cards would = DOUBLE THE POWER!

This is weird and heartbreaking...

Why the fuck does this youtube channel produce this? I don't get it. Look how many fucking subscribers they have lmao

I see valuable money being wasted here... The production quality behind these videos are so damn good. They have so many long 1+ hour vids packed full of valuable information presented in a digestible way. They even interview incredibly high status, prominent professionals of their fields and dive deep into questions about designing shit.

I'm not a designer or into that kinda faggy shit, nor am I some jew shill... I'm just a random /g/entooman who stumbled upon something unique, and I feel it would be an injustice if I didn't at least share it on a French-Canadian tickle torture xanga

UX design is a joke because even a retard can do it.

Actual programming takes brainpower, and the women who get hired get laid off within a year at any company outside Silicon Valley

So, I just moved into a new place, and the coaxial cable is in the living room. This was to my surprise, as I had planned on having my wired connection PC in the bedroom, quite far away from the living room.

What the fuck do I do here, /g/? Do I need to run an extension cord across the entire house just to use my tower? Can I bridge my modem to my router wirelessly?
Please respond.

Get cheap router from thrift store so you have two. Connect one to modem and one to your computer. Bridge the computer one to the modem one.

Cheap? Wifi or powerline networking.
Best performance? String CAT6.
>>
>>60970325

Anyone have a list of CPUs that support Windows 7?

I want to look up "Intel Core i7 7700HQ" and see if Windows 7 works on it.

I've read that some newer CPUs are being built with a hard-coded disable for Windows 7, not because it can't actually run it, but because Microsoft pays them to do it (force people over to Windows 10).

Anybody have a list?

Just read this:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-3346553/intel-7th-gen-support-windows.html#r19600863

Seems like Windows 7 works and updates fine on new CPUs but just stops updating after a certain patch (mentioned in the link above). Anybody know if this is true?
