Is there a single piece of open source backup software for Windows that isn't Java garbage or web UI?
You'd think it's the simplest fucking thing to do, take data, copy it somewhere else, add some scheduling capability and a USABLE INTERFACE, bam you're done. Why are open source coders so fucking inept?
Here's a program written by 1 guy in fucking Delphi that has every functionality you could ask from a PC backup solution, except being free.
>>60988447
What kind of backup do you want?
There is owncloud if you just want normie sync folder action, there is git if you want version control, there is ftp, rsync etc if you want something more advanced.
>>60988489
I want it to copy my shit from C: to E: then copy the shit that changed since the last time it did that, on a schedule.
The built-in backup would have worked except for the fact differential backups are broken in it.

this is not true. firefox doesn't use the KDE file picker unless you take extraordinary measures to patch it

Has anyone replaced their mouse with one of these? Is the experience identical to the force touch trackpads on MacBooks?
I've come to prefer my trackpad to an actual mouse because of gestures and am thinking of getting one of these my desktop.
I have one, and it is better because you can position it anywhere, it is larger, you can control its tilt by raising it if need be, use it wired or wireless, and it is pure sex paired with better touch tool.

>This year is one of the more weird releases in relation to Intel. Here in the EU Intel killed all marketing, press and PR activities. Hence the majority of media all over Europe is not receiving any information from Intel anymore, that’s the same samples wise. So the review you see today is courtesy of a board-partner as Intel does not seed these processor samples for review anymore - but apparently all media in the USA are seeded. We have no clue what is going on with Intel these days. The Intel supported reviews this week are based on a handful cherry-picked websites that are on a marketing-drip directly from Intel. The rest of the media will need to somehow borrow their samples from Intel partners.
>It has been and still is a complete and utter mess with Intel, I can honestly say that as for this entire X299 / Core X series release Intel has not send any info or samples. Our hails through emails are not responded to, and the phone-numbers we dial of contacts are not answered. Here in the EU Intel has killed (with a few exceptions) marketing, press and PR activities. Hence 98% media all over Europe is not receiving any information from Intel anymore.
>source: https://www.guru3d.com/articles-pages/intel-core-i9-7900x-processor-review,1.html
>With ten cores you get a 140 Watt TDP processor, and I do not believe for a second that value is correct. With the system at idle with a GeForce GTX 1080 installed / 16 GB memory / SSD and the X299 motherboard I hovered at roughly 75 Watts in IDLE. That's just fine really, but the load values are rather significant. When we stressed the processor 100% run we reach roughly 250 to 300 Watts with this is a 10 core part. So we go from 75 Watts towards 300, that's 225 Watt in my book.
>I won't lie, the past two weeks with the Core i7 7900X and the X299 boards I have tested have been an absolute challenge. Memory XMP profiles would not stick, power consumption with one BIOS was OK, the other through the roof. But most of all the processor performance was all over the place. We've seen perf differences of up-to 20% in-between merely different motherboards.
> Intel recommends certain power states to keep the TDP in line, as otherwise they simply cannot achieve that 140W TDP. For most overall tests that worked out okay enough, but specifically the toll on game performance was abysmal.
>So in the year 2017 you still cannot run two graphics cards at a full x16 PCI-Express lanes, as there are too few available lanes available. Not even the 900 bucks you would spend on an 8-core part, as it will bog down towards two x8 links.

Not surprised, Europe's largest hardware enthusiasts are mostly for Eastern Europe and they've been sick of Intel's shit long ago.

If you want help:
>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - All you really need for 60fps with power to spare; Don’t get an i5.
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>i7 7700k - Bad value but great at 144hz gaming
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.
GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz.
>RX580 and GTX1060 6GB - 1080p@60hz maxed, 1440p@60hz at lower settings; Go for the RX580 if you can.
>GTX 1070 - 1080p@144hz /1440p@60hz at high
>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.
>GTX 1080 Ti - 1440p@144 hz and 4k@60hz maxed/high in many games; You're kind of going overboard with this one.
>AMD GPUs are suffering a lack of stock and Nvidia a rise in price thanks to e-currency miners
General:
>ALWAYS LOOK AT PRODUCT REVIEWS!
>Always consider an SSD. Try buying a large SSD for what you'd pay for your SSD+HDD combined, and add a HDD later
>NVMe SSDs aren't for a faster OS boot, they're for productivity/scratch disk/VMs. NVMe and M.2 are not the same thing, M.2 is a form factor.
I finally received my Noctua AM4 bracket, /g/!
I mounted my NH-D15S and now i'm doing overclock stability tests on Ryzen Master, to see what is stable and what isn't. Unfortunately my motherboard's heatsinkless VRMs or the PSU (i don't know which is causing it between the two but i am certain it is not the CPU) are giving me some troubles so i can't overclock my R7 1700 very far, but i'll be buying a new PSU and some thermal pads (that i will use along some small heatsinks that i already have) in a few days so i'll get to reach the limit of my CPu in a few days!

In 2016, the Augmented Reality company Magic Leap had the largest C-round of financing in history: $793.5 million. After a private presentation, investors such as Google, Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins have funneled $1.4 billion into it.
Though it's currently focused on glasses, it promises no-glasses-needed, hologram-tier AR technology.
