Windows 10 update stopped hotplugging usb hardware from working, it must now be plugged in at bootup for me. Also, if I use sleep mode, changing screen brightness doesn't work anymore after waking up.
Why do the microsoft kikes always do this and how do I fix it?

switch to literally any OS that is not windows
Get Mint Cinnamon.
I have a large collection of home videos on a few different formats that I need to digitize over the summer. Any recommendations for how to get this done?
>>60994555
Yes. First stop posting. Then use that time to get it done.

enjoy crappy results that look poorer than the source.
Did you know that due the VHS unstability you require of professional equipment to get proper results? You need properly aligned High-end S-VHS decks, timebase correctors, proc-amps and detailers to get an acceptable and stable source for the capture device(they're picky and will drop frames or stop capturing at the slightest dropout). Furthermore once it's digitized you may need to apply additional filtering before having a proper master for MPEG-2 encoding.
SLP/EP tapes are the hardest ones to digitize, as only the original deck that recorded it can play it without drops or tracking issues.

those guys have the proper tools
Everyone is too busy discussing consumershit like GPUs, headphones, arguing over which fucking distro is better, arguing over systemd.
Here are some things I'm wondering why we never discuss since they are very tech-relevant and could probably help some of you NEET bastards get jobs.
* Kubernetes
* Start-up culture
* Continuous Integration (like Jenkins)
* Data structures/types (/dpt/ is shit at this before you mention)
* Docker
* New database tech like RocksDB, Redis etc
* Message queues
Until you start to have threads on these (and I'm not talking about one thread every 2 months), you shouldn't consider yourself a legit tech board.
>>60994460
It's pretty well known that /dpt/ tends to devolve into nonsense 20 posts in, so I'm not sure /dpt/ is good at discussing anything. It's a shame.
>>60994749
Yeah, I wish some of the real oldfags of /g/ had not left. This place was once the jewel of 4chan.
Actual technology is hard unlike repeating the same old shitposts about otherwise unremarkable consumer hard/software

What's a good end2end encrypted VoIP software?
TeamSpeak:
+ Encryption
- Not by default
- Not end2end
- Closed Source
Mumble
+ Encryption
+ By default and enforced
- Not end2end
+ Open Source
Tox:
+ Encryption
+ By default and enforced
+ End2end
+ Open Source
- However, constantly keeps like 200 or more connections open to a bunch of Tox nodes and relays, which I really don't like, constantly consumes at least 2 KB/s up- and down-traffic, even when idling
- Mobile app sucks massive cock
Discord/Skype:
- LOL
Any other options, /g/?
Jitsi?
signal
>>60996464
Signal's only for mobile phones though :(
I'm talking more about VoIP software for the PC
Well /g/?
Did you buy yours yet?
Yes
No
Maybe

Tell them that you're not paying for those 9 days. Start looking for another provider.
change the ISP lol. It's not in your interest to swallow whatever a shitty company shovels down your throat.

I've always wanted to get into technology, electronics, and coding, but have never had known where to start.
Are there any books/YouTube channels that are good?
I've bought Practical Electronics for Inventors and have been going through that, but I have no idea where to start for coding.
For electronics; the best book there out there is: "How to Diagnose And Fix Anything Electronic"
Great book that goes into EVERYTHING you will ever need to know.
*sigh*
any programming book is fine
just start working through it, it just about 6weeks for the basics. Try to get some friends into it, find a hackerspace in your town is a plus
>>60993962
how old are you? if you are over 15yo, forget it. Your mind is already mapped on a way that electronics and programming will look alien to you. Focus in music producing or helpdesk, sorry it's the best I could tell you.
>gstatic.com
Do you know what this is, /g/?
It's the google equivalent of ekansovi.

but do you know what's the most frustrating thing about this?
that if you block it in UblockOrgin or WebsiteBlock, it literally stop the captcha from working.
>>60993732
I'm slightly gonserned
Also, what's a good captcha alternative for this retarded google captcha?
>>60994110
legacy captcha.
(y < len) ? matrix[x][y++] = cur : continue;
I'm getting the following error:spiral.c:23:44: error: expected expression before ‘continue’
(y < len) ? matrix[x][y++] = cur : continue;
Where's your loop.

And EPYC launches today.
It happens, when a branch predictor becomes too smart for a certain task, it's pretty much what happened with CPU-z and ryzen, difference is SPEC is used for datacenter and anyone buying datacenter hardware looks at SPEC scores, while nobody cares about CPU-z and their pathetic damage control.
I don't understand how this board could have Microsoft users, can't you see that pic of Richard Stallman?
When you get tired of editing registry keys on the command line maybe you'll use a real Unix OS.
We need more shitty threads like this one cluttering the board at all times.

nothing wrong with Windows posters. vidya posters are the ones who need to leave.

they're not the same thing. people who come here with tech discussion regarding Windows are welcome.

hope this helps

not really
>>60993402
one is the real thing, the other is just a clone. this, supposedly makes the "real thing" better, but in my opinion it really comes down to personal preference.
