Not sure if this is the right board to ask, but I don't know of any other that would be suitable for it.
I managed to get my hands on a VCR that allows it to be used as a capture device. Now I've already tried using VirtualDub with it, and it displays on my monitor perfectly, however the exported capture file only displays nothing but the color green with the audio playing along side it. And I'm not talking a green hue. It's literally just the color green. Is there any other capture software just as good and expansive as VirtualDub?
What do you use to connect your PC to the VCR?

Is there any software that comes with it? Did you try using other capture software, even VLC? Virtual Dub will use specific encoding on output, try looking under settings to maybe change that. Also try out other players to view the output files.

Yes. It works well to get you feeling awake. I have a hard time getting going in the morning and it helps. I have the older model.
I got one, the basic Phillips one.
I haven't noticed a difference, it hasn't really made my morning any easier. I did manage to get it for only $30 and I was already looking for a dedicated alarm clock, but it's not something I'd pay MSRP for.
Is there any reason to upgrade my phone at this point if I have a Note 4? New phones are most likely better, but I feel the leap in power isn't great enough to justify a purchase.
If not now, then when?
Get a new phone when your current one stops working.
When my Note 4 started having issues, I switched to an unlocked Huawei Mate 9. It's around the same size physically, but with a larger 5.9 inch screen and an insane 4,000 mah battery (not accessible unfortunately) which easily lasts me two days. Still has the micro SD slot. Huawei was also nice enough to include a thin snap case for easier grip, and a pre-applied screen protector.

Simple as this. Phones are designed not to work for more than a few years (e.g. my Dad's galaxy S2 was incompatible with a lot of apps he wanted to download) but milk it for as long as you can.
So I have these scrap speakers, and I wanted to put them into an Altoids can or a Coke can to make a neat little amp, but they're not very loud. Is there any way I could make them louder? I can solder and I have a bunch of scrap wires and circuitry, but I'm not too-too familiar with it. I'd like to hear ideas. Thanks.
You need an amplifier.
Also try >>/diy/.
>>60995712
Thanks. Do you know where I could find one?
diy amps and diy amp sets are absolute dog shit, just sayin
I work for a large company that is developing the killer of lithium ion battery.

Is greenify still viable on Android 6 MM?
I'm running the xposed version.
What's a decent alternative if it's not?
>>60995414
No. It's placebo on anything above 5.0. Android has good integrated power management now.

An OS that's not KitKat or older.

>State the budget for your build (and country if not the USA).
>List games/software you use often, as well as your monitor resolution + refresh rate.
>Clarify your goal for build improvements: lower price or improved specs?
CPUs:
>G4560 - Budget builds (<$500)
>R5 1400 - if you can't afford better or specifically need 8 threads but not a very powerful CPU
>R5 1500x - All you really need for 60fps with power to spare; Don’t get an i5.
>R5 1600 - Best value for higher fps gaming / mixed usage; Get a 1600x if you don't OC
>i7 7700k - Bad value but great at 144hz gaming
>R7/Xeon/Threadripper - Compute/Multitask/mixed use; Not required for just gaming.
GPUs:
>Integrated CPU Graphics - Desktop stuff and very light games
>RX 560 and GTX 1050Ti - Lower end budget cards, drop settings on newer games
>RX570 - 1080p@60hz at high, running most maxed older games at 144+hz.

>GTX 1080 - 1080p@144hz / 1440p@60hz maxed, 4k@60hz in a few games; Probably the highest end card you need for 1080p/1440p.

You're not going to get any major savings from there without sacrificing quality or performance.
What should I look for in a 4k monitor and how much should I expect it to run?
Posting on behalf of the ryzen master race.
Why Linux is such shit?
1. Monolithic core - is fucking unbelievable stupid shit, driver failure = system down. Plus it makes very hard to provide their new drivers for hardware developers like NVIDIA and AMD and etc.
2. No universal API, and OS subsystems, for example today I tried to capture audio stream from some application which uses ALSA, I fucking spent 6 hours for it because in Linux there's no single audio system, it has OSS, ALSA, JACK, JACK2, PulseAudio, and all this shit if fucking retarded in configuration.
3. Graphics, fucking unbelievably bloated X server, wayland that's supposed to be a successor to that shit, but it still doesn't work at least to be able to work and things like usual on it. Fucking WM,DE, that don't still have normal compositor without tearing, ALL shit you must tune by yourself and spent days to make it work fine.
4. Okay no software for regular user, it's like 1000x poorer version of Macos where all program bugged as fuck.
5. if you have a laptop with wifi linux will be a nightmare for you.
Despite ugly very poor architecture of kernel, main disadvantage of this fucking bullshit system is bloated and hell amount of not specified shit, like 10 Audio API, 10 Graphics API, 150 WE/DE, AND NO FUCKING SINGLE SPECIFICATION FOR WHATEVER, that's why every single autistic retard writes every fucking minutes a new THE BEST startup system that has no analogous in the world. Every fucking retard thinks it's his duty to write his own fucking bullshit system. And the Chief Commander of all that fucking bullshit is fucking Linus.
I fucking hate this system.
I used it because of my work for 15 years. Fuck you. I wish you with your system will burn in hell.
inb4: No fucking windows is also dogshit.
inb4: No fucking macos os fucking gayshit.
FUCK IT
FUCK COMPUTERS
FUCK YOU ALL

is 700€ (monitor excluded) a sufficient price for a build that can run AssCreed Unity nicely?
>>60994725
At 1080p? Yes.
So I just had my first boot and I get no display and it keeps rebooting every 10 secs or so.
Did some googling and I tried eveything. Only running the cpu and psu, cpu + psu + 1 ram stick, tried cpu + psu outside of the case. I am at a loss. Is it just my psu/mb being defect?
I'm done with Windows. I want to use Linux only for the rest of my life.
Should I use KDE Neon or Ubuntu Gnome?
